Hi

I am starting the planing for my next holiday.

I am coming from the UK so Insurance is an odd thing to us.

Last time I went just about 2 years ago, I did have some problems but I managed to get insurance for about £100.

And last year when i went to Pairs it was about £300.

But i did have problems, but with planning I did not have to many problems.

I have also had problems on plains (I also got the plain landing at the wrong place.)

Now my health is not as good, I now have epilepsy that is controlled with drugs.

In about 2 or 3 months I think they are going to add MS to it.

I have just had a quick look for how much it is going to cost me this time and it was about £1100 this time.

Does anyone think i should be able to get it for less.

Roger

I would also ask this question on the UK boards, I know several posters there travel with family who have health issues. My assistant at work has MS and she has travelled to the USA this summer, I will ask her what her insurance costs.

Wear i work, they have 60K+ people around the world, and I am currently one of the few people across the world that H&S will let me use the stairs because I fallen down a few times, and flying is right out, but it does cause meeting to be moved to the UK a lot when we have to do bits face to face.

So I do lots of meeting by phone.

Hey there. Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time with insurance companies . I'm a fellow Brit, but I normally get insurance that doesn't cover my existing conditions, as they won't need treatment while I'm out there, so I'm not sure how much I can help.

Have you tried specialist insurers for people with existing conditions? Money Supermarket has a list of insurers who specialise in existing medical conditions, which might be worth a look through. Other than that, the only thing I can really suggest is ringing around different companies. I got a good deal with Halifax a few years back, but as I said, it didn't cover the existing condition.

Good luck, and I hope you find something cheaper. I understand why they do it, but it really does stick in my throat that people with existing conditions have to pay as much as the holiday cost in the first place, to make sure they can get emergency treatment if they need it :sad2:

ADDED: Make sure you don't withold any information, or they might refuse to pay up if you needed it.
