Does anyone have any recommendations for decent travel insurance? I thought there was a post somewhere on the boards about this, but maybe I'm looking right at and can't find it.

I have no experience with travel insurance.

TIA !

We have used aig travelguard. But be very careful these days. Read the coverage to make sure you are covered for the reasons for which you may want to cancel. Insurance against the pandemic may be impossible to get.

There are many threads on insurance. Did you try the search function for the forums?

There is a site called insuremytrip (think that's the name), where you can compare a lot of different insurance vendors.

Oops...it's starred out, so I guess that site is on the bad boy list.

I think the site automatically edits out url's regardless of what they are. Sometimes if you leave a space in it then it will show up....................like www. 123test.com

Pandemic's are usually not covered by insurance, that was discussed in many threads earlier this year. Basically you have to determine how much you might lose if you don't travel vs. the cost of the insurance. Airlines have been very flexible with us over the years when we had a few situations that prevented us from traveling. They have flexibility in what they will do when something like a medical emergency or storm damage prevents you from traveling. That is different from where you just changed your mind and decided not to travel. We have never purchased travel insurance.

No, websites are fine and actually required for some things as that's how the filter works. Unfortunately, a very popular 3rd party travel insurance website it not allowed to link. Please don't try to work around filters.

OP - try a google search for "travel insurance comparison site" and most likely the first 2 will be very good. As PP says, check the coverage very closely, and I suggest you call and ask specific questions about the scenarios you want insured. Many policies are not covering "pandemic" related issues, or limited coverage. Keep in mind that WDW has very generous cancellation policies usually, and allows cancellation up until just before your trip right now.

These are very helpful suggestions. We are renting DVC points, and because we are not going through Disney, I wanted to make sure that if my elderly mother, or my young daughter, granddaughter, etc., had an emergency or illness, and I had to rush home, that I could recoup most of my travel costs, if not all.

Yes read the fine print. I was going to get travel insurance because I was travelling with someone with an illness. But the policy had an exclusion for cancelling due to a pre-existing medical condition so I did not purchase it.
