(This was my project last night
I thought y'all might get a kick out of my helpers...)
1) Get fleece. 1 large piece, one slightly smaller.
2) Stretch the large piece out on the floor so it lies entirely flat.
3) Wait 5 minutes while the kitties investigate.
4) Straighten up the fleece.
5) Remove kitties.
6) Get up and get fresh "mousie" toys for kitties. Throw them elsewhere in the house to distract kitties.
7) Straighten fleece again and put second piece in place.
8) Pin in place.
9) Chase kitty who ran off with pin.
10) Put pins safely away and get scissors.
11) Straighten fleece
12) Cut the corners out of the larger piece
13) Cut 2 to 3 inch wide strips of fringe in the larger piece.
14) Pick up cat and move out of way.
15) Find mousie to distract cat from scissors sound
16) Repeat steps 13 through 15 until fringe is cut all the way around the larger piece
17) Cut small slits in smaller piece parallel to the edge of the fleece
18) Pick up mousie that has been dropped on fleece and throw for kitties.
19) Repeat 17 and 18 until there is a slit for every fringe piece
20) Cut the fringe pieces in half and push one part through the slit then tie around the smaller piece.
21) Remove cat claws from fringe piece
22) Get up and go to other side of blanket and straighten up where cat has pounced on an as-yet untied fringe piece
23) Repeat until entire blanket is tied
24) Trim excess fringe length from each knot
25) Fish cats out of trash can, put trashcan back upright, and place fleece pieces back in trash can
26) Straighten up blanket to make sure all knots are right
27) Leave in middle of floor because all 3 kitties have decided this is now their playmat. It can go under the tree later.
