Instead of an autograph book, which in my opinion has no real value after the trip I bought a beautiful children's book for each of my daughters and then all the characters they saw were able to sign their picture within the book. Every time my girls read or look at their books they remember the trip.

I also bought 2 really beautifully illustrated Alice in Wonderland books at the Art of Disney store because Alice is my girls favorite character. We were able to have Alice and the White Rabbit autograph their photos and Alice actually sat with my daughters and read some of the book with them. We got amazing photos and video the entire event.

Another nice feature of having a picture book was the characters would often comment on their pictures in the book. Lady Tremain and the Ugly Stepsisters argued about which one of them had the best picture, such a hoot!

Last trip we bought a tan baseball hat with a little "polo" style Mickey logo on the front. We had the characters sign the hat. My kids wear their hats all throughout the year and it is a useful momento.

Love the book idea.

Love the baseball cap idea for autographs.

We have older teens - they have not been back to WDW since they were tweens:hourglass, how the years pass.

They thought of getting only one autograph book, but since they are older, were unsure about getting autographs.
I think a base ball cap would be great. :thumbsup2

:confused3Do you use different color sharpies for the autographs on the baseball cap, or just a black sharpie?

We usually pick up t-shirts with the year on them for the characters to sign. Sometimes we will do it as a gift for someone who might be picking up our mail or pet sitting for us.

We used a black sharpie. Sometimes the kids handed the hat over to the character, sometimes the character signed on the kids head:rotfl:. For Buzz Lightyear he used a stamp and I went over the stamp with the sharpie so it would not wear off. You may find it easier for the characters if there is something under the hat, to fill it out, a rolled up shirt or a bunched up windbreaker.....or a child's head.

I really like the picture book idea. We're not fans of autograph books either. They seem to wind up on a shelf never to be seen again.

What we did on our last trip was have characters sign a quilt block. My mother-in-law is making a quilt with the squares. For the ones that have fewer names in them she is embroidering a Mickey head. We used black sharpies, pulled the material tight over a clip board and clipped it with binder clips to keep it in place, and stored everything in a big ziplock baggie. Since we had a stroller, it was easy to store everything.

We have done a lot of different things and my daughter loves them all. Pillowcase, 9 inch vinyls, board books, jr encyclopedia of characters, autograph books, sweatshirt, photo mat..... We do love them all!!!!

We have done 2 backpacks (for the upcoming school yr), and 2 lunch boxes. The cloth ones. both with sharpies.

I like the book idea above, I might do that this yr!

I remember reading a post by a DIS-er who took Polaroid pictures with the characters and quickly tape them into a scrapbook. Then the character could sign the picture of them. Carrying a Polaroid camera and scrapbook may be impractical though it you're not an AP holder. A cute idea though because you can decorate it more when you get home!

We bought picture frame mats that are large enough for autographs. We'll have the characters sign one for each of my girls, then frame them with a picture from Disney when we get home!

we also did pillowcases last trip- they are ok- we also did the 9inch vinylmation - now that is cool!

The last time I went I just did a regular autograph book, which I enjoyed a lot and definitely still look at. But my younger sister has lost hers or forgotten about it. This year, I was thinking of doing a more personalized autograph book. On one page, it will be matted and set up for a picture, and then on the page next to it, I'm going to have the characters sign it.

After a tip here last year, this is what we used. My kids LOVE IT and look at it all the time!

This year, we're taking it back to get some characters that we missed, along with a small autograph book. That way we don't have to haul it around everywhere. A small autograph book fits in my baggallini.....the Encyclopedia stays in a Ziploc in the stroller.
