I've applied countless times over the years. I've done extensive credit repair over the past year, but my score...I swear...is in the VERY LOW 600's. I received a mailer for the Disney Rewards Visa w/$150 gift card after first use. I went to GetMyDisneyVisa.com like the mailer said. I WAS INSTANTLY APPROVED!!!! :woohoo:But I didn't know my credit limit, so I called 1-888-560-3027 to enter my SS# to see if I would get a message that stated the limit. But it said they received my application & it's under review...7-10 days...etc. I REALLY HOPE THE WEBSITE DIDN'T JUST HAVE A GLITCH! Funny thing is...I have a trip booked Sept. 25-Oct. 3.....I'm FINALLY (possibly?) being approved for the card...I wonder if CHASE is in cahoots with Disney's reservation system? hmmmmm....

UPDATE: I called the number again to actually speak with a person about the credit limit. While they said I WAS DEFINITELY APPROVED (woo-hoo!!) their screen didn't show a credit limit yet. He said I would receive my card next week though. SO even with a low credit score...if your baddies on your credit report are a year or more old like mine & you've been current on everything lately, it's worth a shot to apply! GOOD LUCK!!!

I'M READY TO REAP THE BENNIES OF HAVING ONE!!!!:yay::cheer2:

My score is over 700 and I still can't get one. I have nothing negative on it.

I applied two weeks and didn't get approved. My credit is 700 as well and nothing major. I've been working hard at getting my balance down on one of my cards that I got close to the max on.....that's it! I was disappointed when I got the rejection in the mail yesterday. I was really looking forward to earning rewards. Blah.....:sad1:

I am over 750, no negatives, and very little credit extended($2000 total) and still cannot get one. Every other company will approve us?? I don't get it. From what I hear you need to be near perfect to be approved.

Perhaps call & speak to someone about reconsidering you? I did write Chase a couple times *begging* for a recon. But that was months ago. It 120% boggles my mind that I was approved....BUT I still won't believe it until it arrives in the mail. I did add a $600 balance transfer when I applied...perhaps they like taking the business away from HSBC!

This is why I'm afraid to apply. Both DH and I have credit scores in the 730-780 range, no negatives and his income is good. But we have one CC near maxed out, we recently bought a house and he switched jobs last year, so I worry all that would keep us from being approved. It would really hurt my feelings if Mickey rejected us. :sad1:

currently from what I am hearing is, Chase is not accepting APplications for people with EXCELLENT credit... I am not saying OP doesnt have EX Credit! I am just saying from what I have heard and read they want people who owe money right now and those are the cards that are getting approved.
I have a disney credit card that I have had for about 6 years, its just in my name. We recently got the 200 dollar gift card offer... Our credit score is 850... so my hubby and I applied for it...and they denied it. We have no debt... and a high credit score...so I think the what I have heard is true.
I guess they know they have more of a chance to make money off of someone that currently has debt. Sucks for people who just want the card for the financing for disney though. :sad2: One day hopefully this crappy economy will turn around.

I have perfect credit and can get any card I want but my wife moved here from England and she can't even get a Department store card. It's extremely difficult to get her a credit history because she can't get a foot in the door. Each time we try probably makes it worse because any history she has is a history of being disapproved!!

Have you added her as an authorized user on your card (preferably your oldest card). My DH was in the army and hadn't really used credit at age 23 or 24 and because of lack of history couldn't get approved for much....I added him to my card I got the day I turned 18 and had a good history and high credit line on, and his credit instantly jumped and he was approved for things of his own. I read the tip online, apparently credit history is back dated and reported for authorized users (which sucks if someone adds you as an authorized user and missed a payment, but is great for building history).

That makes perfect sense. Obviously, they're giving away the gift cards in hopes that they'll make it up in interest charged on purchases and transfers. People with perfect credit and no debt (that's not me) will likely pay the bill off every month, meaning Chase won't collect any interest after giving away a $200 gift card.

Thanks for the "aha!" moment.

I still have a hard time believing that, a credit card company still makes a lot of money off those who pay their card off every month. A large chunk of their profits come from merchant fees paid when you shop with your card. People with bad credit are a risk, sure they could make some interest, but they could also not pay you at all. I seriously doubt they are turning down people with great credit just because they have great credit, I am sure it is because they have great credit they have too much credit elsewhere or even their income isn't what chase is looking for.

chase is fickle....that is really all there is to it....and they make a lot more on people who carry balances than people that pay off their cards monthly....and that does show on your credit report.

So the fact you have an 850 doesn't matter if you always pay your balance in full...you don't make them any money.

but someone who has a 640 credit score and carries balances WILL make thme money...especially when they get a crummy % rate...like 24.99% which is pretty standard % rate for Chase

Wow...I'm impressed. Virtually no one has a credit score of 850! What did they say was the reason for denial? They have to provide one and surely they don't actually print 'credit is too good'?

My credit score is sloooowly climbing. I paid off $36K in bad debt with the last of it being paid off a year ago. I have 2 HSBC credit cards. Both are nearly maxed for about $1600 outta $2100 available. I have a mortgage & auto loan. A year ago I set up all my bills to auto draft out of my bank account so there was no way I could have any late payments. I really do think they know I have a Disney trip booked & they want me to spend more money. Heck with free dining, who REALLY needs to spend more money?! In reality anyway....I may book a Captain's Plan for boating or something a little extra, but my trip is paid in full & I don't plan on going overboard just because they wave this card at me. It's a bummer I couldn't get it when I booked the trip to begin with! Oh well...there's always next year......HOW ABOUT A ME-N-HIM-N-NO-KIDS TRIP TO THE NEW RESORT ON OAHU!!!!!!

True also. I know my bank is offering me $10 a month to use my debit card as a credit card. With the new bank regulations, I guess they earn more through merchant fees if it's a "credit" transaction instead of a debit transaction.

Well I'm just applied to see what would happen and they told I would receive a letter in mail with their decision.
