Inspired by the towel thread...

Why do my clean towels smell funky? I know, stupid question but I can't figure out why. All the other laundry I wash comes out smelling wonderful and fresh. The towels always smell - weird. Not terrible, but not fresh like everything else. I even bought new towels and after I washed them they smell icky too. Any ideas what is wrong with me and my towels?

Is it because you put them in the laundry hamper when they're damp? They may sour, and then when you get ready to wash them, the sour smell doesn't come out.

I always wash all my towels on HOT...they always come out fresh smelling.

That could be it. I hadn't really thought about that, I just figured the wash would get out everything.

I will have to try that. We almost always wash everything in cold. (It keeps me from ruining things)

You can also try adding 1 cup of white vinegar to the washer. White vinegar is a wonderful laundry aide believe it or not

If they're not COMPLETELY dry when you take them out of the dryer, they could mildew in the closet.

They might feel dry to the touch, but towels are heavier and may need more drying time.
