I've often struggled with this one.:p

Why am I a "Disney Person", but my daughter, for instance, is not? She SHOULD be if she's really mine.;)

I THINK I'm a "Disney Person" because I'm kind of a Disney history geek. I remember watching the old Wonderful World of Disney shows on Sunday night, back when it was actually an EVENT to watch it every week.

I grew up before home video, when seeing a Disney movie meant going out to the theater to see it on the big screen. Again, sort of an EVENT.

I visited WDW during it's first year. It entranced me. It was like some sort of magical world that you could only imagine in a dream. Now, sadly, with all the other theme parks, kids don't often see how special it truly is.:(

I have read every single book on Walt and the history of the company. I find it fascinating to the point of - well, I'm probably a nerd.:p

That's why I THINK I'm a "Disney Person".

What makes you one?:earsgirl: :earsboy: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo pirate: princess:

I am a Disney person because I've never felt the same wonderous, excited, awe-filled, MAGICAL way at any other place in the world.

I think, in my case, my first trip to WDW was as the perfect time in my childhood. I was 7- old enough for the thrilling rides and shows, but young enough to still be amazed and filled with wonder at the magical atmosphere.

Even though I have only been a handful of times in my 38 years, I am a proud and true "Disney Person"!!::yes::

Me too -- I never thought about it that way before but you are right! When I came back from Disney and told the kids in my class about the ghost in my car they practically called me a liar!! Nobody even started going to Disney for many years after that.

Hmmmmm.....I read this and asked Brer_Papa, "Why are we Disney People?"

He answered it well. We believe in the Magic, we've seen the Magic and we feel the Magic."

Good answer I think! Cause it's true!

I'm a Disney person because I grew up liking Disney from the very start. My mother bought me Disney storybooks, dolls and records and I watched Walt Disney on Sunday nights. Walt loved telling the tv viewers all about the attractions we would see someday. I was ten or eleven when DL opened and I tod my dad I was going there someday. He said,"Honey, that will cost a lot of money." I still haven't made it out to DL yet and I never did get to DW until I was forty but since then I have visited the magical place every other year. BTW, I still have my Davy Crockett and Peter Pan and TinkerBell dolls!

I feel the same way, I went during the 2nd year of WDW, fell in love with the Magic then, went twice with family, twice with girl friend after we finished HS. Then could not return until 17 years later with family, and now this year 6 years later. Every time I hear the music "When you wish upon a star" be it in WDW, on TV, radio, computer, I tear up.

In fact the week before I left on vacation I confirmed my hotel ressie from work and after speaking with the front desk CM she ended the conversation with "Have a Magical Day" I drove everyone crazy at work all week saying "Have a Magical Day" I think they were glad that I left on vacation.

I guess they just do not understand!! :sad2:

I'm a Disney person because although I am almost 32, I still honestly feel like a teenager at heart. And this is not because I have in any way lived a sheltered life. I hope I will stay young at heart.

I became a Disney Person, when I can walk down Main Street, and just feel.....well, some of you know what to feel, but to think ONE man created all of this, makes me feel real GOOD!;) :p My first visit was in 1976, for Grad Night, and I wanted to actually LIVE there!:o But, I had not experienced ALL of MK at the time, and now that I am 46, I STILL haven't experieced it all.;) I remember looking at Books that had pictures of the DL Monorail, and being excited when I first rode the one at WDW.:p

Growing up my only exposure to Disney was on TV on Sunday night and that was pretty magical.

Then I went to work at Sears and had major exposure to Disney. I really learned to respect the company at that time.

Then came 1976 and I made my first visit to WDW. I was hooked! This was a place that make me feel wonderful, and safe, and fun. Over the years I've enjoyed Disney with my mom (who is no longer with me), by myself (when I really needed to get away to someplace happy), and with my DH. There are so many wonderful memories there!

From the movies, to the parks, to the cruises. Disney makes me feel wonderful.

Luckly I'm married to a wonderful man who also "gets" Disney. The rest of his family doesn't at all and most of our friends don't (except of course for our DIS friends).

I think you're a Disney person when you can appreciate and enjoy everything that Disney does and stands for.

To some this sounds really strange, but I'm sure some of you will understand.

When I go to Disneyland or Disney World, when I walk under the railroad, onto Main Street, not only do I actually cry every single time, but I also somehow feel like I'm "home". I feel like I was meant to be there. My dream is to someday move to either FL or CA and work at the park, because I know that I want to be a CM and would absoultely love going to work every day.

It's something I just can't explain I guess. But watching the fireworks, seeing how the CM's treat people, watching the looks on kids faces, all of these things make me cry tears of joy, and think of how wonderful and special Disney really is.

(sorry, told you I sound a little weird!)

Lisa

It's so interesting to hear everyone's responses. I've often thought of myself as a Disney person, but never really knew WHY. Yes, I love WDW, but lots of people do, but that doesn't necessarily make them a "Disney Person". I think there's alot more to it. Obviously, you guys understand.::MickeyMo
