When I was in grade school my parents took us out early to see Walter Mondale when he was running for President and made a stop in Hawaii. I still have a picture of me shaking his hand. Yeah, I know - big deal. lol

Some times you have to embrace that moment...

I think you people are making way too much of how the teacher is
actually affected by your kids being absent.

As a teacher, I could care less what and when parents take their
kids out for, I just make it clear from day one how make-up work
will be handled, for unexcused absences, the missing work is a zero.....
excused absences other than being sick, they make it up during recess.

As a teacher, I just want to make it perfectly clear what the consequences
and policies are....and actually I wish more teachers were like that.

I'm not sure how many people are being serious on this thread or not. I really thought the OP was being serious, and my answer about taking my kids out of school is for real, not facetious.

In addition to taking the kids out of school 7 days to go on our DCL cruise & spend 2 days at WDW, I will be picking them up at noon the day before on our way out of town. As long as they are there until 11:30 am, they are considered present for the day.

I'm taking a personal day. My students will have a substitute while I'm at the movies.
