Inspired by Snoopy: Under-rated Movies

October Sky was the first one that popped into my head when I saw the title of this thread. I am glad to see others who felt that it was a wonderful movie that really deserves to be seen. :)

I also have to say that I loved Serendipity (and almost all John Cusack movies). I am not sure I would call it under-rated but it is great for what it is and I could watch it a million more times.

I thought Mr. Holland's Opus was a wonderful movie and I don't seem to remember it getting a lot of praise when it first came out.

oh, you guys have mentioned some of my favorites!Annie&Hallie'sMom, I loved Creator, too....seems no one else has heard of it!

One of my favorites is Meet Joe Black. I never saw it at the theater because everyone who saw it said it was 'ok' and I wasn't about to waste 3 hours on an 'ok' movie. We finally rented it when it came out on video and I loved it! The premise is kind of 'out there', but it really was a beautiful movie. I loved Anthony Hopkins and as much as everyone raved about Brad Pitt, I never really cared for him until MJB. Oh, and I love when Anthony Hopkins talks about his love for his daughter...I can't remember the exact quote, but it is such a perfect expression of the depth of love a parent has for a child.

Unstrung Heroes

One of the finest films I've ever seen.. hysterical and heart wrenching and no one saw it :(

Beautiful Girls

*sigh* this film is amazing.. and has a great Winnie the Pooh reference..

Dogma
Don Juan de Marco
The Full Monty
The Red Violin

The Cutting Edge - Funny and charming

Clueless - guilty pleasure, it's just funny

Another one I was thinking of that was panned by the critics was "The Freshman", starring a very young Matthew Broderick, and Marlon Brando. One of the funniest movies I've ever seen.

I don't know if there was any big deal about "History of the World Part 1" but Now a days no one my age has seen it and i think its a great movie...

While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman is my favorite!

Spaceballs is hilarious

Maybe we should start a John Cusack Appreciation Society since he's been mentioned here so many times.

Which reminds me of two other of his films: Being John Malkovich (he was brilliant in that one. And so was John Malkovich!). And of course Better Off Dead (French Bread, French Fries, French Dressing and to drink -- Perru!;) )

Better Off Dead is good, but Say Anything is really good as well...

"Kickboxing.. the wave of the future.."....

And the In your Eyes with the boom box.. SIGH!!!!!

I really enjoyed Pretty in Pink as well... Its a darker teen movie, talking about alcoholism, being different, being accused for your sexuality because you are different, not adhering... and standing up..

Yes, some of it usual teen angst, but some, well, it is pretty dark.

Another one I enjoyed was Some Kind of Wonderful.

Mask, (Eric Stolz) was really good as well.
