We went through the middle names.... now, how do you feel about your first name?

I'm Elizabeth.... I like my first name. I used to be called "Beth", but decided Elizabeth sounded more grown up (I was 14).

Do you like your first name?
hate it?
or is it "just ok"?

I love my first name! There was never another girl in my class with it!

Tina :D

Hey, that's the first time someone used my sig in a posting subject. I feel all special and googly.
Susan is a boring name.

I didnt like my name to much when I was a kid. There are not many Deena's around and if I find one they didnt spell it like mine. Also I couldnt find any cute stuff with my name on it.
However as I got older I started to like my name more. I still dont find many others but I like having a name thats not common.

My parents gave me the female spelling (Jimmie), but I don't mind. Yes, I'm a guy.

I never used to like my name, but now I do.

It's kinda funny that my parents thought they were being original by naming me Dana. But I think there were 4 other Dana's born in that hospital on the same day. :teeth:

It might not be the most exciting name, but I like it.

I love my name. Sometimes people assume it is Jeann-ie, but I try to introduce my self as Jean (no I sound) cause I don't care for it with the I sound. (Does this make any sense??).
It is also my DD's middle name. I was named after my Nana.

My name is kind of boring, but I would use it for a daughter for the sake of naming her after myself.

Baylor University wins the NCAA 2004 National Men's Tennis Title!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Way back in the olden days Tammy was not a common name. At least until Debbie Reynolds made a movie my mother and apparently many other mothers loved. Now I hear it constantly. I suppose it's cute for a 5 year old but now that I'm 40 it seems pretty immature. My REAL name is Tamera (like camera with a T) but EVERYONE calls me Tammy. Can't get them to do any different. And if they do use my real name they call me tamAIRa which I hate even more than Tammy.

It's ok. I think I say my name weird though. It never sounds right when I say Shannon.

I never really liked my name, until I talked to my coach(named...Ward! sorry, always thinking of Leave it to Beaver  !!)and he said how he hated his name growing up, but then when he was older, he became comfortable with himself and just accepted his name. I'm happy with myself, so I'm happy with my name. It is only a name. I am happy, though, that I didn't get stuck with some name like Apple  :teeth:

HATE HATE HATE IT!

Yes, it is Cindy, not Cynthia, or Cindy Lou, or Cindy Lou Who, or Cindi, or Cyndi, or Syndee, or Sindee or Cyndee! (I have seen all of those!)

To me, Cindy is either a)Cindy Brady -- (my namesake,!) or any cute little perky, blond cheerleader types. I'm not perky, bold or a cheerleader!

And also when applying for certain postions, I feel that I am not taken as seriously as others. Lately I have been doing resumes/applications with first initial middle name to see if there is any difference in how I am treated!

Don't you hate that! I am blonde and perky, but I am not stupid, I just have a short-term memory problem! :teeth: I changed the spelling of my name from Cindy to Cyndee back in jr. high because I was so tired of being called Cindy Brady! UGH! And, don't even get me started with Cindy Lou Who! When the Jim Carrey version came out, EVERYONE called me that! I am Cynthia, but that just makes me cringe as I was only called that when I was in BIG trouble!

I like my first name - Deborah. I went by Debbie most of my life - including through most of grad school. Went I went on my pre-doctoral internship I decided to change to Deborah. The thought of "Dr. Debbie" just makes me cringe.

I never liked my name as a child, because it is so uncommon.
I love my name as an adult, because it so uncommon.

Garrett is my first name, of couse. I like my name because it's not too common, but also not too "out there." Plus, it means "brave spear"-- how can you go wrong with that? :)

I wasnt too sure about my name as kid.... No one ever had it! and when we sang songs at holiday time I always thought we were singing "Come light the Melora" (instead of menorah) :p

I love it now and like it when people say "Oh thats SO pretty"

BUT no one EVER remembers it... They always guess some name that starts with Mel... Melanie, Melody, Mallory  I tell them its Laura with a Ma in front of it.. it doesnt help them remember!

Then no one can ever spell it either! Mostly its malora, but ever so often I get malaura....

Oh well! Most people end up calling me Mel anyway.....

I don't hate my name. That is a very harsh word, I just don't particularly like it. But...........now that I am older &"more mature" LOL It's surprising how many people you meet who know someone with the same name.

I must admit that my best friend as a kid had an Aunt who shared the same first name & same spelling. The name is one thing, but the spelling is something else again.

See it's Auriel & it's also spelt Oriel, so as I say the spelling is something else again.

I love my name. Simple, clear, appealing.

- Dana
