Okay, so I'm kidding about the title, but this is inspired by his thread.

Specifically the first paragraph of his thread.

Even more specifically the emo bashing that his thread turned into.

So...

Do you identify with a certain stereotype? Do you fit into the cookie cutter "norm" of that stereotype? (Like if you're an emo kid, do you have the swish hair, do you listen to panic and fob? Stuff like that.) Do you consider yourself stereotypical?

And to those of you who said no to that, have you ever been stereotyped? If so, as what?

Please define 'emo' , i am not quite sure what it means. I have been stereotyped as a 'geek' because I'm good at school. Then everyone's like totally shocked when i dont get things right... it's so annoying :guilty: :furious:

Emo used to mean "emotive hardcore" but now its not really that anymore.Think goth but much less scary and more harry potter.

and what in the world is a swot?

:confused3 I was about to ask the same thing.

Anyway, I really don't fit into a stereotype at all. People actually have told me that I really am just "me". That's how most people identify me.

Like I said in Mike's thread, my school doesn't really have any groups besides emo and goth, which are only a few people.
IF stereotypes existed at my school, I guess that I could be called preppish.

Geek. I read too much, and apparently I am too smart and should go to HS and stop making my friends look dumb. That was meant as a joke from some friends. Then some other people would take it a step further and call me a loner cause I don't socialize much... Yah, that's about it.

My friends call me a prep.
Some guys at my school call me emo.
I have a weird personality, somewhere between the two.

I dress prep.
But I do get an emo- ish personality.

Before you kill me.
I don't cut myself.

My friends always said "god shelby. Just go to college and leave us all alone."

No and no. I've never been stereotyped. If I where, I'd likely be something between a geek and a loner.

drama geek: im on the tech crew, an officer, etc. ya know.
anime nerd: i like it. i can speak some japanese. i prefere anime over american cartoons. so what?
bookworm: i read and i like to read. oooh such a rebel.
goth-ling: i wear black shirts and jeans. and yet i still get looped in with the goth crowd. honestly. you wont find me whining about how horrible my life is. i prefer to keep my problems quiet.

Well people always assume that I'm stupid. I seriously don't know why but they just say that all the time. The thing is though I have a 97.8 average. How do you call that stupid??

I hate it when people assume that just because someone does well in school, it is assumed that they have no common sense or "street smarts." I have a 98 in English and one girl called me dumb for telling her that "today" ws not a verb. She claimed that it was because there was a "to" in front of "day." She is dumb, and is in NO position to call people dumb. Our teacher offered extra credit for jumping out the window. It was a joke. She jumped up and volunteered. It wasn't a joke. And I hate how people go "OOOOHHHHH!!!" when the people who normally do extremely well get lower than an A. My English teacher started a conga line when I answered his grammar question incorrectly. (Or so he thought! I checked six grammar dictionaries. I was right and he was wrong! Rant over...) It is frustrating...

I have been called a prep. I probaly a fit that mold. I wear lacoste, polo, lily, the north face, and j crew. Used to go to private school (until I moved to a small town where a private school in an hour away). Play tennis (tried golf failed but my brother plays it) and all that jazz.
I have also been called a geek. I do my homework, turn in my assinments on time, and answer questions in class so I must be a geek.
Theater geek- I make references to broadway musicals so much that my drama teacher doesn't know what I am talking about half the time.
I have never been called Emo though. I thought Emo stood for Emotional.

prep. yAh all my friends r preps and i get called a prep all the time. Dont get me wrong im not like..."OMG you guys...OMG like...OMG!" LOL...yah but yah.ha

WEll my school is so mixed, theres the popular preps and the smart kids, then the goth and emo, the ghetto, then the inbewtween.
I dont know i guess i could go with im kinda preppy, but not popular. I'm in drama and have friends all over the place, im jsut one of those people that can get along with everyone. at least i try to be anyways, but i can't say ive ever been called a specific stereotype before

Book worm: I have read 25 books this semester. :teeth: I had a friend tell me to just go to college and get out of our hair. (I hope that was a compliment ;))

Overall geek: I'm on the computer more than I'm with my family, I can outsmart the Science teacher, and I can write an essay over glaciers. (The said science teacher asigns essay questions and then she doesn't even read them. Gr.)

I've been labeled goth. Sometime emo.
Because weel all I usually wear is black, and band T-shirt.
It's a really big change from last year, because ... last year I guess you could call me a Hilary Duff Freak.

:/
