Unless it's something needed while on vacation, I can't recall when DH has gone grocery shopping with me. Even then he would rather sit in the hot car while I run in. Unless it's a WalMart Supercenter and he needs something, he won't go in. I see couples shopping together (and actually getting along, too!) all the time, and I dont' know if I would like it or hate it. I just know that I won't ever have to worry about it, because he won't go along. That's fine with me..::yes::

not usually. quite frankly, i prefer that he doesn't. :p

NO!!!! THANK GOD:eek:

He and I do not mesh well grocery shopping or shopping for clothes. While I like to browse in the stores, he likes to get in and get out.

So in order for me to keep my sanity and maintain a low pisstivity level he must stay home::yes::

Back in the olden days, like before kids and even before marriage, DH & I used to shop together on Sunday mornings. We would go out for breakfast, then food shopping.
Well, after a while he got sick of waiting for me to get ready so he started running to the store by himself. When I was pregnant he told me after the baby was born, he would take him shopping with him and give me some time alone on Sunday mornings. He was pretty good with that in the beginning. Now he still goes on Sunday mornings, but only sometimes takes 1 or both kids. ;)

We shop together all the time. We do the breakfast, shopping thing almost every weekend.
Although, I don't really like taking him to the mall with me. I get much more done on my own when I'm shopping for things there.

big shopping trip - yes
small everyday run to the store shopping - no

Very rarely. In order to get along, we have agreed that if it is the weekly shopping, I am in charge and he is the helper. I like to zip through as efficiently as possible and he keeps adding to the cart, pausing to reflect on new items and weigh the possibilities of purchasing them, commenting on my fruit selection ( like "did you see the bruise on that apple?") etc. So now if he is along he generally gets an assignment, like fruit, then he can browse while I zip around the store picking up the rest.

If I am sick or for some reason he does the shopping, I keep my mouth shut about his purchases. When it is my turn (in general the shopping is my job) I want free reign.

every thursday evening after we go out for supper we go to the store and he is very good shopper....we see alot of people that do their shopping together

Put me on the breakfast and then food store list. We do this on weekends. We like to go before it is too crowded so we will bring stuff home/put it away and go back out if we need to do other errands. DS 5 goes with us (i guess that's a given), we take 2 carts. DS and I are in charge of veggies, fruit, dairy, and meats. DH does soda, snacks, cereal, paper products. Basically he does the aisle and I go along the perimiter. We usually meet up in frozen foods.

We rarely go shopping together anymore. Only usually when we both know what we want to get. He's not a browser unless it pertains to hunting or fishing. He goes with me every now and then to the grocery store. I usually go by myself on Friday mornings while he's working. When he goes, he's as bad as the kids. I end up buying lots more than what was on my list. :p

99% of the time no, thank god!! The few times he has come with me it has taken twice as long, we end up with twice as much food (most of it junk food!) and I am irritated with him by the time we get home. I really don't like to grocery shop, so when I go, I want to get in and get done. I can do our shopping for a week in about a 1/2 hour (not including check-out). He strolls down the aisles, looking at everything, I am constantly waiting for him. I don't invite him anymore which is fine because then I don't have to take the kids with me either!! :p

LOL, Camcolt! That reminds me of my DFIL when his kids (7!)were young. He would take them on "mystery trips" to get some of them out of DMIL's hair. It would usually be a trip to Kroger, or some store. He would hand out the coupons to the kids, and send them through the store to find the items.

To this day at 80, he still uses coupons, but has to go find the stuff himself!

I forgot to mention in my OP, that DH and I have not clothes shopped together since we dated. He always makes me feel guilty, and I would rather spend money privately...

Wow, robsmom, you have this down to an artform!!

No way. He is not a shopper. He would make me fly through those aisles choosing every non brand product there was. He would also be telling me we don't need junk food! LOL! He stays home!

My wife hated going food shopping with her mom when she was growing up, was relegated to waiting for the lunchmeat at the deli counter. We made a deal when we got married, she'd clean the bathrooms and I'd do the food shopping. 7 years later neither of us is looking to back out of the agreement.

Now that we have our DS2 he's come along food shopping with me ever since he was born. Saturday mornings, we have a good time.

Yes, we do. And DD comes along also. We don't fight...usually. ;)

Every Saturday morning! We have breakfast at home and then shopping. I enjoy shopping with him as it is more time to spend together and between the two of us we usually remember everything we need.

Sure there are a few extra things that get added to the cart, but that's ok!:D

Yes my husband goes grocery shopping with me. :D

If I have to suffer through it, so does he. So, I tell him that if he wants to eat, he'll go "hunting" for the food with me.

Can you tell "The Little Red Hen" was one of my favorite stories as a child?

DH and I used to go out to eat and then shop together except it was it was friday night dinner at our favorite Italian place and then shopping. A few times DH did take DD and go shopping to give me time to myself but I still had to put the list and coupons together. If he couldn't find an item on the list he didn't know what to substitute so I decided it just wasn't worth it. Now I'll go by myself or occasionally with DD.

We shop together and hopefully will always. He doesn't really like to go to the grocery store, but too bad, if you ask me. I feel the same way as inaminute. If I have to do it, he has to help. (Even though usually he just wanders around behind me as I pick up things on the list)

I also feel this way because there are a number of things that he eats that I don't such as cereal, and I'm not picking out some random box of cereal for him to come home and findout it's not something he likes, and then we've spent 3.00 on the box already. And other things like that... what rice does he like? What milk does he like? I prefer whole, but he never drinks whole, but I don't know which kind he DOES like, as I've only ever drank whole in my life...etc.

tricia.
