Inspired by Jersey Janice's grocery shopping thread. Does your spouse shop with you?

I do most of the grocery shopping, either with DW or usually just DS and I. It's one of DS' favorite places to go, thanks to the addition of a Kids' Club to the store. :teeth: :teeth:

Yes, DH always shops with me... actually, since he does the shopping, I guess I shop with him! :D We generally try to go when the kids are in school (he works nights) and then we have lunch too. Our Commissaries are an hour away, so that gives us some time in the car to talk as well.
Actually, we really do just about everything together.

Usually we go together, but I sometimes would rather just go alone because he loves to read labels and compare different products. It took him 10 minutes the other night to select pickles!

Usually, he takes DS I take DD and we separate. I give him a list of the easy stuff. LOL.

No way. He is not a shopper. He would make me fly through those aisles choosing every non brand product there was. He would also be telling me we don't need junk food! LOL! He stays home!

Are you talking about my husband??? You don't suppose we have the same husband and he's leading a double life with 2 families?

My husband is such a genius about food prices! Except he's frozen in time back to about 1970 or something. He thinks bread should cost about a quarter and a pound of butter about the same! He stays home!

Oh, heck no! When he does, we end up with tons more junk.

My DH loves to go grocery shopping with me, except that it ends up costing more when he's along than when I shop by myself. He also goes clothes shopping with me and everytime I stop to look at something, he wants to know if he can buy it for me. I have to remind him that just because I looked at it doesn't mean that I actually want it.

The only thing that he is grousing about is having to get a tuxedo for DD's upcoming wedding.

Glad to have been inspiring, HRH!

My husband doesn't dislike grocery shopping, but he doesn't come with me often.

I generally do my big shopping trip of the week on Sunday so that the cold cuts are fresh for most of the school/work week, but I like to go to Mass before shopping.

So in the fall/winter when football is on, he never joins me so that he doesn't miss any of his games.

In the spring/summer, he is very busy at work, and Sunday is often the only day he has to do his yardword (i.e., cut the lawn--something I don't do).

The short answer is, he'll grocery shop with me when he has nothing better to do.

OMG that is exactly how my DH is.He is the most wonderful husband in the world.
He loves shopping more than me.

My husband usually does the grocery shopping all by himself. We rarely grocery shop together.

My BF usually comes with me which frequently results in far more purchases of cookies, cupcakes, candy and snack cakes. :D

I prefer to go alone. I get in and out much faster and the bill is never as much. We end up with TONS of junk when DH comes along.

My DH and I go shopping together all the time to all sorts of different places. I enjoy having him at the grocery store with me because he helps me think of things that I may have forgotten, or if the kids are getting restless he'll go gather some groceries in a different area of the store to get the shopping done faster.

He also comes with me to the mall when I go shopping for clothes for myself because he is my best critique. He will honestly tell me when something looks great on me or if needs to stay on the rack. I'm also very frugel with money, so when I find something I like he always convinces me to buy it for myself and not feel quilty about it.

The only time he does not like to go with me shopping is when I am just bumming around w/o a goal for the shopping day. He says "I like to go buying, not shopping."

So, I guess I am really lucky to have a DH who enjoys shopping with me. I also enjoy having him come because it gives us a nice opportunity to catch up on each others lives because w/ work, kids, house cleaning, and him on the volunteer FD we rarely get time to talk.

He has to. He's my chauffeur...:D

My husband does the shopping by himself. He talks to everyone and knows everyone. It's like a day at the circus for him.
:p

Oh, God NOOOO!! DH is a label reader and gourmet food looker!! A 20 minutes shopping trip turns into a 2 hour tour!!

When DS was a baby, I took DH once. Stood him in front of the store and explained that we had 20 minutes of "good time" with the baby to shop, check out and get the car loaded. He never came with me again!!

In the summer since I'm off, I go with DD one morning during the week when the store is less crowded. We make it a fun morning- breakfast at our favorite bagel shop- then shopping. DD loves to scan the groceries at the self checkout. This is time consuming but summer is all about slowing down, so it's O.K.

The rest of the year DH and I often go together. We, also, make it a fun time alone (after 25 years you consider the most mundane things to be quality time).

Our adults only trips are usually around happy hour and Applebees is on the way so we usually have a Perfect Margarita first.

You would be surprised at how painless grocery shopping is after an Applebees stop.

My dh & I have shopped Sat. morning for years. It is our time together except that we also have my 2 granddaughters and my ds (who is almost 24) and my sort of foster ds (who is 24) with us as well. They all like to come. I really don't mine and we don't usually get more than what I wanted. They are all pretty good.

I HATE when my DH shops with me for groceries, especially at the checkout. He has to arrange everything we have in the cart in a certain manner on the conveyer belt, if I even try to put anything on it (you know, in an effort to get out of there quick?) he grabs what I put there and throws it back in the cart because it is NOT the way it should be. When we shop where THEY are supposed to bag your groceries, he INSISTS on doing it himself because he wants certain things in the bags in certain ways. He embarrasses me everytime and I now try and shop in the day while he is working.
