(inspired by JC2) Who do you buy your plane tickets from?

We used to buy our tickets from a local TA. Then I started buying from the airline directly which was Northwest.

This last time we flew (to Vegas), we obtained our tickets from Expedia. Great prices with no problems at all! :)

Which has worked the best for you? TAs, airlines themselves or the online "travel agencies"?

The reason for asking this on the CB, is I'm interested in all travel not just to WDW.;) :D

I buy directly from the airline website. I found that generally, they have the best deals.

I buy directly from the air website. So far with where I have looked, there hasn't been a time where another website had a better price than what I could find on the air website. And by doing that I save the extra fee places like expedia tacks on.

we were told to go directly with the airline ....on line but US AIR....or DELTA.......that way if we had a snow storm and got cancelled .......the airline would help us faster then if we went thru an on line service......I am not sure about this.....but this is why we do this.....and the difference was a few bucks

Hmmmm, that's interesting to know.

I go to airline but also done Travelocity

I have found doing research myself, I am more comfortable buying them myself. I use the web, check prices and sign up for special airline emails. My upcoming trip I got tickets for $118 roundtrip, non stop from Chicago to Orlando. I don't think ANYONE could have done better for me. I bought them direct online from the airlines, after lots of price researching.

I buy tickets for my husband and myself online from the airline. Usually I check Expedia for who is the cheapest, then I go to that airline's website and save a little more.
When I buy tickets for the boys to travel here by themselves, we have to go to a travel agent (we use AAA) because you can't book unaccompanied children online. At least not at age 11.

 I inspired a thread! Just seeing that made my day! :teeth: lol Thanks, kitty!

We usually buy our tickets directly from the airline.

I'm with Pumba.

Two friends who are travel agents both told me that when there are problems, you'll have a much easier time with dealing with an airline than an online broker. Usually I check the prices of Travelocity, Cheap Tickets, etc. and then book online with the airline that has the lowest fare.

I look lots of places and then I buy wherever is the cheapest. For whatever reason, recently, orbitz has been the cheapest even including the added fee. A lot of the fares i find there are not offered directly through the airlines.

I also frequently travel to snowy places and have never had any problems with my orbitz tickets. I wonder if that is b/c orbitz is done by the airlines themselves, as opposed to something like travelocity...or maybe it is b/c i am a frequent flier with a lot of miles and they want to keep me happy. either way, i've never had a hassle b/c i bought my tickets through orbitz when there were problems with the flight.

I've used Travelocity and Airline itself d/t they don't particapate with travelocity. On one I've boolked with travelocity I would have paid same rate through airline itself.

I usually buy directly online from either American West, Southwest or (most importantly for WDW trips) Spirit :)

I've never had the courage to try Expedia or Orbitz or Priceline.
