Okay folks, I need your creative thoughts here!

A friend/coworker of DFi just had baby#2 (well, technically his wife had it!). We were trying to think of what to send them when I remembered a gift basket we had received at work about 2 years ago that was a cookie bouquet. It was really cute, and everyone liked it a lot. The problem is that was MY city, and I've been combing the web/phone book for a company that does stuff like that here and didn't see one. I showed DFi the Cookies by George website and we concluded that yes their cookies are good, but somehow $35+ for 18 cookies in a gift box is a lot. I foolishly mentioned I could probably make what I was thinking of, and so now I'm tasked with it!

I'll be baking the cookies onto long lollipop sticks, and then setting them in a (clean, new) plant pot. I want to decorate the plant pot with... something. Dunno what yet. I don't think they're into the country thing. I want something to put on there that's baby-ish, and will probably personalize it with baby's name/birthdate.

Any ideas on what to paint on the pot? Any websites with good patterns/ideas?

How about a baby cookie monster? Goes with the cookie theme. Ducks are always popular on baby things. You might think about those little baby blocks with letters on them. You could glue them to the pot to say various things. Just some thoughts. I'm sure it will be great!

How about going to Target or Walmart and loading up on small baby items? Teething rings, small toys, socks, bibs, sippy cup, spoons, etc. Stick them around the base to help hold the cookies. There are so many fun things for baby's and they will eventually use it.

If you want to get really adventurous, paint the outside of the pot with some craft paints, then cover with a polyurethane spray sealer so they can use it to store things in if they wish or they may put artificial flowers in it for later.

Buy her a bag of Peak Frean cookies just about any kind would be good we like the NICE and the FRUIT CREAM ones.

Last week a friend at work made a cake for a co-worker going on maternity leave. She had the cutest little decorations for the cake, which was cut up and frosted to look like a baby carriage. I asked where she got all the neat decorations and she said she got them at The Party store, so you might try that. She had little baby bottles, diaper pins, lots of cute stuff.

You could check out Cookies by Design for ideas. I like the idea of putting baby items along with the cookies. I'm assuming you like Disney...well you could go along with the Disney theme and do something with Disney babies-Baby Mickey and the gang.
