In my case:9-11,Columbine,Oklahoma City boming,Aaliyah's death,Kurt Cobain's death,Chris Farley's death,Columbia's demise and Princess Diana's death

Going way back here. Remember watching Walter Cronkite deliver news stories regarding the Vietnam War. I remember him ending with the number of casualities.

i remember all of the same ones as courtasansatine. but what i find sad here is that you remember princess di and not mother theresa. they died only a week or two apart. i cant believe how princess di's death has so over-shadowed hers.

oh and remember the guy who was mailing bombs!

Elvis
John Lennon
I barely remember JFK (I was 5)
MLK
RFK

My mom and I were just talking about this last nite.
JFK Jr.
TWA
Princess Diana
9-11
Columbine
Bombing of Iraq a couple of years ago
Aaliyah's death
and now Columbia

JFK was a sad day for me. I had just graduated and was working in Boston at the time. Princess Diana was very hard for me. I feel she overshadowed Mother Teresa because she was so young and vibrant. 9-11 has got to be the worst thing we as Americans have had to deal with.

Korea just barely, Vietnam, JFK, RFK, Elvis, Columbine, Challenger, Columbia

Nixon resigning on TV! . Pol Pot regime in Cambodia, the monks setting himself on fire... the famous LIFE magazine pictures of young Vietnamese children running..

I do remember how a newstory was with a helicopter with soldiers was leaving a country (1974/75--Cambodia/Vietnam?), and the pilot, people inside the copter were pushing the people that was hanging on the copter coming in...

Anything of importance that has happened since then..

Reagan assasination attempt
Ford Assasination attempt
Patty Hearst--it took me a while to understand that.
Iran/hostage crisis
Lech Walesa/Martial Law in Poland--I cried about that.

The first Afghanistan crisis--back in 78/79

The failed ERA movement00(Equal Rights/Equal Pay)

Reagen taking office, and magically the hostages were freed!

The failed attempt to rescue the hostages.

The beginning of the AIDS virus/it being a mysterious disease.. and Ryan White/Kimberly___ (the one who got the virus from her dentist).. big news/problems that was associated with that.

Elvis dying
John Lennon dying
Freddie Mercury dying
Robert Reed dying
Ricky from the B52 dying
Ricky Nelson dying
Roy Orbison Dying
Donna Reed dying
Joan Crawford dying
John Belushi dying
Gilda Radnor dying
Chris Farley Dying
Phil Hartman dying
JFK, Jr. dying
Mother Theresa dying
Princess DI dying (I was having my daughter that week!)

The attack on Waco
The attack on Oklahoma City..
9/11
The first World Trade center bombing
The Challenger explosion

Richard Pryor almost dying... it was touchy there for a while...

Muhammed Ali getting really sick...

Clinton--who can forget anything there?

I did remember Mother teresa but I blanked when setting up this thread

I have to add Left Eye from TLC's death and Phil Hartman's death

Mother Theresa
Princess Di
Kurt Cobain
Jim Henson
Sammy Davis, Jr.
Columbine
the school shooting in Arkansas and the one in Paducah
9/11 (of course)
the shooting outside CIA headquarters
Challenger
OKC (But I didn't find out what had happened until the next day)
the first WTC bombing
the mail bomber
Anthrax
Columbia
Phil Hartman's death
all of the OJ stuff

Way too many to name.

The first news event I remember is when RFK was shot. I couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 at the time, but I remember it vividly. Both of my parents were huge Kennedy supporters, and I remember them being devastated by his death. :(
