When you are decluttering and getting rid of stuff in your house, how do you decide what to do with it. I am pretty frugal historically and my inclination is to garage sale or if I think I will get enough to make it worthwhile, ebay items. DH just wants them OUT and would much prefer we take them to Goodwill or wherever. Now, the tax write off is awesome, but there is this little part of me that just would like to make some moola off of my old stuff. So, what do you do and what influences your decision?

I ebay my junk. over the past year I have made over a thousand dollars just getting rid of clutter. :cool1:

I haven't had much luck with e-bay, myself. But maybe I just don't have the right kind of junk! :)

I find that donating is the easist way to go. It does good, and I can use all the deductions I can get on my taxes! I've never tried a garage sale, they seem like an awefull amount of work for not a lot of money (but again, it depends on your "quality" of junk, I supose).

I usually give it away. I've done a group garage sale and that was fun because we were working together. I wouldn't do my own though. I'm too embarrassed about my junk, but if you're with a group no one knows who belongs to what.

It depends on my mood. If I have children's clothes and toys that I need to get rid of, I'll see if anyone I know needs them, if not, I'll usually donate. I have Ebayed every now and then.
