Inspired by Brazilian waxes - did you ever wax anything yourself?

I've been getting my eyebrows waxed at a salon and it's great.

In the past, I've tried to wax my legs at home, and it just doesn't work right. All the hair never comes off.

Is there a trick to doing this at home?;) ;) ;)

I tried my legs too, and it didn't work for me. I can't be that rough with my skin.

My facial hair is blonde as I am a redhead... but I have tried to do my brows and upper lip............oh my...

with hot wax.. I ended up being browLESS over one eye

then I moved onto Nair cold wax strips... these are fairly easy to use on lip and eyebrows...they just sting a little bit as you rip them off.

now I am using a depilitory that I purchase from HSN.... face laser
It works ok...

I am thankful that my hair is light and that there is not a whole lot of excess hair.
If I really want my brows done right I go to a salon...

Legs.. easier to shave for me...

and a bikini wax........... ROTFLMAO>>>. little need for one as I would not want to scare the world.. mamajoan in a bikini.. OMG!!

The 30 second microwave wax from Nair does a great job...I do my own eyebrows with it, but it gets too thick and cools to quickly to wax my legs effectively.

On a side note, I had a patient last week who waxes her underarms...She had got an abcess from an ingrown hair. As sensitive as the bikini area is, I can handle a wax there, but NOT under my arms! :scared1:

No, I can see blinding pain in my future so I refrain.

I have actually waxed my own bikini area. Not a brazilian, just a little touch-up around the edges. It usually takes me a few days to finish the job because I have to go back the next day and get the patches that I missed. It's really not that bad.

I wax my own brows and upper lip (gross, hee hee).

I use Sally Hansens wax strips that you just warm up in your hands... work GREAT and are AFFORDABLE.

I love them! Saves me money and time =)

I bought that "NADS" stuff from the infomercial - I think it's called "sugaring". That did not work.

I've really never tried to wax anything myself, too hard and it hurts far worse than going somewhere to get it done.

I tried to wax my legs at home. I had to close the bathroom window so the neighbors wouldn't hear the screams. Never again.

I tried to do my legs with both Nads and that other stuff that was in an infomercial with women sitting around in nighties eating it. Neither worked. They both ripped off my skin and left my hair firmly in place.

I should just get my legs waxed in a salon, but my life is so hectic that it's hard to make an appointment, and I don't know of any place that takes walk-ins for waxing.

I wax both my legs and bikini area. I must have a high tolerance to pain -- it just doesn't bother me.:earseek:

Kristen :earsgirl:

LOL, Mare!:teeth:

I've done my eyebrows with both the "Bliss" wax (worked great BTW) and the clean and easy or something like that from Sally's. It worked for me also.
I do think it is easier to just pay to let someone else do it.

Yes, I have. I also recommend doing your own dental work. The pain, the pain!

I have the melting machine and buy my wax, etc. at Sally Hansen's. I wax my bikini area, my upper lip, and one other place, but I don't want to say where. It might end up in a tag.

Before I had my own stuff, I went to a Lebanese lady who said their tradition is to wax all your hair off your body before your wedding. Her sisters in law called her the day before the big event and invited her over for the tradition, but she declined. Is anyone of Lebanese decent and can confirm or deny this practice? I just found it an interesting alternative to a bachelorette party.

 Gee,...I've NEVER waxed anything!!!

Although I've considered it. Or I could turn this scary hair on my chin into a dreadlock!?;)
