I was reading her thread about what your kids want to be when they grow up. I got jealous! Seems like so long ago that I had that road with anything I wanted on it...... :)

So my questions is though you are happy now, if you could go back and "be" something different, your dream career what would it be? Is is something that you could go back to school or further studies to do now?

I think I would want to be a vet or some sort of doctor specializing in babies, kids. I took the easy road and though I am still very young (25) the same thing that held me back out of high school still holds me back now. The safe road.... I am scared of chances.... what if I don't like it like I think I will?????

I decided at the age of 8 that I wanted to be a teacher specialising in music. I am now a primary school teacher and did a graduate degree in music.

If I was a better artist I would love to be an interior designer. I also looked in to being a stage manager at a TV studio. I would probably choose that as an alternative career if I had to.:teacher:

I went back to school a bit later than some do. I am now a nurse midwife. I love helping bring babies into this world. It is very rewarding. THat said, not sure I would do it again if I had it to do over. I think I would like to be a forensic pathologist. I don't know how anyone really "knows" what they want to do with their lives.
Always thought I wanted to be a vet when I was younger....

Since 1978 I wanted to be a teacher. I'm getting closer and closer to that goal.. class by class...

I can't tell you how many people I have talked OUT of becoming a vet. I have to say I don't think I would ever go back and change careers, because I wouldn't trade my knowledge for anything. BUT, vet med as a career really BITES!

Now I would like to be involved somehow in the music or theatre industries.

As far as regrets, I DO wish I had gotten some 2-year high-paying med tech degree and THEN worked at that while going to college and vet school. I'd be so much better off financially. Then again, I'd probably be so happy with the money I made at that that I would have dropped out of school. Who knows?

Actually, since I am going class by class (juggling kids and working at the same time..) I hopefully will have 60 credits by summer..

That means 2 years of full time semesters left. But since I have to work AND go to school, it will take longer... maybe 2007

I want to be in the top three real estate moguls in the world!! Watch out DONALD!

Well, I work in theater, and there is honestly nothing I would rather be doing with my life. Right now, I teach and direct children's theater, but at one point or another I have acted, directed, designed, house managed, stage managed, and lots more.

However, obvious lack of physical fittness and science ability aside, I have narrowed down my "fantasy" jobs to -

FBI Agent
Forensic Pathologist
Crime Scene Investigator

I should probably admit at this point to having seen WAY too many episodes of The X Files and CSI. :p

On another note, I was at the dentist this morning for my regular cleaning and, as the hygienist was scraping the muck off my teeth, I was thinking to myself that dental hygienist might possibly be the worst job in the world. Who wants to sit around all day scraping gunk of people's nasty teeth?

I'd like to be an actor. I guess it has rubbed off from DD. I had a part in a musical at a local theatre last summer. DD was trying out, so I just auditioned on the spur of the moment. We both got parts! It was a blast! Now that I've retired, I plan on audtioning more when we get to Florida. DD's agent told me that there are a million young actors, but actors over 50 are in demand. I'm going to try to exploit that fact. I'd also like to attend chef school.

I would like to be a librarian. I work in a library now as a paraprofessional. Hopefully once the kids are done with college, I will have some money to finish my bachelor's degree and then go for my MLS.

Either a chef, marine biologist, or forensic pathologist (some range of interests, huh?)

When I was younger a Computer Programmer.

I went school for degree in Information Systems End User Support. I am call if computer questions.

I hate the structure of writing programs so I which from compurter programming to end user support in college. Do get wrong I still love programming but I can't do as job because it would be no fun at all.

I got into computers when mom brought a old texas instrunments computer home. Then a cartoon called Voltron seal the deal for me computers.

I have about 20 years working on computers. Boy have they change since back then.:p

I'm 44 & still don't know what I want to be "when I grow up!"

My DREAM has always been to be a midwife. I would love doing home births, but here in the back-a**wards state of Georgia, the men making the laws have made home births a misdemeanor. (Don't get me started on THAT.) But that's my dream... maybe someday.
