Insights on visiting Universal during a DVC Stay?

I've gone to Universal in California and really am only interested in doing Harry Potter in Florida (probably). A friend of mine who went said the HP area was tiny..like Main Street DLR tiny, and the crowds were insane..so is it worth it to just go to Universal for that one thing?

Unless you are a local with a Universal annual pass, then NO, it is not worth it to go for HP alone. Harry Potter is a small part of a larger two-park resort that needs a full three days to fully experience..IMHO

As great as it was, I think you're setting yourselves up for a rotten time if that really is ALL you want to do. Unless you're HUGE potter fans.

We didn't go during an insane-crowd time, though, so it didn't feel quite THAT tiny to us.

I've never been to Universal in CA, but I was glad to give the whole place a good try...it was definitely great fun and a great place.

We rented a car in March from the airport to get to Vero AND US/IOA. We booked a room for one night at RPR for the extra hour entry to WWoHP and for the Express Pass feature, which as someone else has already pointed out--is unlimited when you STAY at one of their resorts, as opposed to purchasing the feature. We never even saw our room there. We didn't have to.

We planned our visit during a week long stay at BWV, but didn't want to give up our DVC room, so we just drove home to BWV to stay the night and headed back the next morning. It's not that far of a drive and didn't mind doing it.

The day AFTER we were done at Universal, my DH brought the car to the Dolphin and returned it. Very simple.

Contemplating doing the same thing again in Nov. We all enjoyed the rides there (hadn't been there in several years) and felt it was worth it for us.:thumbsup2

Pop onto the Universal Boards...that's where I found most of my info to plan our trip.

Chase credit card's Total Rewards program has 1 day ticket for 5000 pts... not a bad deal, but what's the AMEX/HH rewards like?

AMEX RW: 3 day park to park is 17,000 child, 18,500 adult.

HHonors: 1 day park to park is 52,000 child, 56,000 adult.
7 day park to park is 72,000 child, 77,000 adult, the best deal if you have the points.

Priority Club: 35,000 and 39,000 child and adult, 1 day park to park.

BTW, while Undercover Tourist is amazing for DW, it's more expensive for US!!
