Inside Scoop on River Country?

am i the only one that almost comes into tears when i find out that a ride or in this case a water park is gone? makes me feel like i miss it like a friend that moved away :(

No, Lizzie, you're not alone in that. I know there must be progress and change, but I hate it when something is gone for good at Disney World. Another one I hated to see go was Dreamflight. I know a lot of people thought it was boring, but I really liked it, especially the part where it tilted you up I think and you felt like you were flying through that one room. They seemed to have kept that room in Buzz, the room where Zurg's robots are flying at you in space and you shoot them, but it's not the same.

never heard of that ride.. i dont like Buzz very much but my lil cuz loves it.. i never do well at that stupid thing!!!!!! i wish they would keep Carosel of Progress open all the time though.. i love it

I'm with BrerLizzie... The thought that my kids may never get to experience River Country makes me misty! I can remember going as a kid, when it first opened. Coming home and trying to explain it to my friends was hard, because there was nothing to compare it to -- none of us had a concept of "water park." River Country was my most favorite part of Disney World.

Wilderness Lodge is so close to Ft. Wilderness that it seems lots of those guests would go to RC. Also fun for families seeking refuge form the crowds atthe other two water parks. It would be nice if it reopened with a less expensive daily admission charge than the other water parks, for families with small kids who can only last a couple of hours.

If you charge less, then get ready for the crowds, because they will come. I was thinking more along the lines of a park for Disney resort guests only- with an admission fee- as a way to keep the crowds down, but considering the are 20,000 + on-site rooms, that could even backfire.

I say for the three bay lake resorts. But it would never happen.

KNWViking, I thought RC had been open at the same time as the other water parks, was less expensive for admission, and yet was usually less crowded. I think I have an old Birnbaum Guidebook that says this? I think the idea was that most families (with teens especially) wanted the bigger thrills of TL and BB, and also, it's not that easy to get to Ft. Wilderness.

I like the idea of RC being for onsite guests only.

River Country's admission was quite a bit lower than the admission for the other two waterparks. We used to go because we're not into slides but just wanted somewhere to swim and relax for a while and River Country was wonderful for that. As far as crowds go, they weren't as crowded at Typhoon Lagoon during one trip but in my opinion the crowd at RC was still quite large while the situation at TL was breathing room only.

Making RC for onsite guests only or for FW/WL guests only or whatever is fine with me! I just wish that they'd open it whatever the rules and I would personally stay where I needed to so that we could visit the place again.

The only times we stayed while RC was open,we always had LOS passes so I never knew if there was a price difference.

Since I own at VWL, I'd love to see RC reopen for just Bay lake resorts, but I don't think I'll ever see that happen. Maybe when the convert Discovery Island into a Super Hooters bar.

My dh will probably more enthusiatic about repeated trips to WDW if Discovery Island does indeed become a "Super Hooters." Maybe someone over at the rumors board knows about this :)

My DH would certainly sit up and take notice of this addition. Of course, he'd actually be asking me to go to WDW if they added a casino boat to Bay Lake but I don't suppose that would fit into WDW very well. ;)
