Insects in resort rooms

In 25+ trips to various Disney resorts only one time did I notice ants in our room - All Star Music. I don't think it is Disney's fault though. Many folks on a budget cook and bring all kinds of food into the room so I could see why there were ants.

n2mm -

If you read this thread again - I had to say your post gave me the best laugh I have had all day!! Your matter-of-fact tone during you account of your "wildlife" experiences was great!:hyper:

I have now made my fiance promise to do a sweep of the room for snakes. I have a completely unhealthy fear of snakes and though we stay on the 4th floor (and he assures me nothing short of an anaconda can climb steps and only Sir Hiss could manage an elevator), I'm now paranoid. Do you think I should call concierge and request a snake-free room?;)

We stayed at Old Key West in a 1 bedroom unit this past September and we had ants in the laundry room. We called the front desk and they came and sprayed while we were gone and we didn't notice them again after that.

k&a&c'smom, thanks. The frog was so much funnier then you could read. I was tire and when I dropped my backpack, I thought, did I just see something fly by, then I looked on the bedspread and yelled to my hubby that there was a frog on my bed. Then the frog jumped again, this time sticking to the front of the headboard, and since they were the same color it looked like a part of the headboard. My husband was running around the room (not a lot of room to do that) trying to catch it. I threw him a towel and he dropped the towel on it and openned the door and let him back out. All night I keep feeling around the bed for another frog and when I got up in the morning I was hoping not to swish anything. My friend told me that maybe had I kissed it, it would have turned into a prince.

BTW, I've seen several snakes on property too. One outside Alien Encounter and another as we were at Ft. Wilderness going to Traial's End (as expected in a campground). Armadillos are the norm, esp. at the All Stars.

We had a bad experience with Fire ants, at the Beach club Villas. On the same trip moved to CSR. Where in 2 first floor rooms in Ranchos B. We had a palmetto bug on the wall. In one room, 1 in the bed sheets in the other room. A large orange spider on the bed in room 2. And some ants by the sink in room one. We laste dabout 8 hours and moved in the AM to AKL. We did call management and were told it was to be expected at that time of year MAy, And in a first floor room it was more likely.
A SNAKE!!!!! Trust me if I had a snake in my room. I would still be in therapy!!!!!!!!Frogs cute... Snakes, Oh my God!

We had fire ants in our WL honeymoon room. I got bit in between my toes. OUCH! It hurt.
BTW, I would freak out if I ever had a frog, lizard or snake in my room.

We had the Largest Cockroach I have ever seen, walk across the TV / dresser area after returning to our room one nite at about 11pm in august 2003! Now if we were on the ground floor ok, he might of wandered in, but crawled up 10 floors? And he didn't come with us! I actually caught him in a glass! and called the front desk, asked what they wanted me to do with him, they said "we are sure its not a cockroach, I disagreed, and said, I have the evidence, I could bring it down to the lobby, but they would send me the bug guy, we waited till, 12:45am when the "bug guy" shows up, I was getting ready, for my trip to the lobby with cockroach, and he says "your right, that's the biggest cockroach I've ever seen, good catch, you need a job?" and off he went with my evidence. And not a sorry, excuse us, or note from CR management about the incident!

FYI: The bug guy told us: (we c/o about mosquito's, HK opens patio and they get in and you fight them all nite), said if you get them they have a mosquito vacum, and just give them a call and they will take care of it, no problem, said HK has been told not to leave the patio doors open like that, but they always do.

We had mites in our room at AKL. They kept coming out of the furniture - the large table mainly. Initially, I wasn't all that happy. Now we just laugh and say they were authentic African bugs that were shipped with the hand carved table. That Disney magic at work.
