Going I-95 from CT. What is a good place to stop for night so that I only have about 6-8 hours of driving the next day until we get to orlando. Would it be on south carolina/georgia border?

That sounds about right. We just drive until we can't drive anymore. We don't make reservations because we don't want to stop if we're not tired and we don't want to be forced to drive further if we are tired enough to stop before we get to the hotel. I know we've stopped in Pooler, GA several times. There are several hotels and restaurants right there off 95. The drive the next day is about 6 hours.

We stop at Walterboro, SC, which is less than an hour north of the Georgia border. The next good stop would be Savannah, GA, one more hour's drive south of Walterboro.
If you stop at Walterboro, SC, your drive the next day to WDW will be 6 hours. Here is a photo layout I did, showing motels, gas stations, and restaurants at I-95 Exit 53, Walterboro, SC:

We loved the Savannah, GA exit off I-95. Very nice Springhill Suites there many restaurants around, especially enjoyed eating at Logan's Roadhouse which was about 2 miles down. It was about a 5 hour drive Disney from there.

Florence, SC or Savannah, GA. Both are decent areas with nice hotels & restaurants.
