My 12-year-old son (a huge fan of fried catfish) and I will be trying Homecomin on our upcoming June trip. I was wondering what other menu items those who have tried it might recommend and if anyone might know if we might be able to share the dish or if there's any possibility they'd serve up a kids portion of the catfish. I can't imagine him eating an adult portion there and the food we might waste if we both order adult meals.

Had the braised beef ribs and fried chicken - both very good. I would be surprised if they would give you a child's portion at a reduced price...but you can always ask:) Perhaps you each get a side of mac and cheese and split the fish (or side salads)...

Your 12 yo son is a "Disney adult" for dining purposes. I can't imagine they would make a child size portion of an item only on the adult menu for an "adult". If it was on the child's menu they often let folks 10 and over order them from there. But you are asking for a whole other step.
Good Luck

If you are paying OOP, you should be able to share an entrée if you want to. Sometimes they push back if you ask to share a plate on the dining plan, but we've never had an issue at any restaurant when paying OOP. Sometimes that's the only way to enjoy an appetizer or dessert in addition to an entrée, if the serving sizes are large.

The fried chicken and doughnuts entree is really good. We were disappointed in our sides- the coleslaw, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were underwhelming.

They had the best Mac and Cheese I've ever eaten in my 53 years of life.
Their Chicken and Dumplin's were very good but not what everyone thinks of. His dumplings are not fluffy doughy balls like many use, they are flat, more like pie crust strips. We loved it as I don't like the doughy dumplings. Flavor was fabulous
We got a burger and a chicken sandwich and split them so we each got to try one. Both were very good.
The list of items I want to order from there is long, very long. We go back in a few weeks
