Inlaws coming for part of trip--UPH?

Ok, you guys are so helpful. I am sure someone will be able to answer this question for me.


We will be in the World for 8 nights at the end of July, and my InLaws (and hopefully a 1 night babysitter!) will be joining us during our trip for 2 nights. We have rented 2 rooms, so we have plenty of space. Will Disney add them to the room and allow them to purchase UPH for the time that they are there with us?

No, they won't. You have to buy an UPH Tickets for your length of stay only. You'll probably have to buy them either 4 day hoppers and use the day left at a later time, or just visit one park per day and buy then one day/one park passes each day.

I was hoping that we could buy UPH for THEIR length of stay. It would be nice to be able to park hop with them, and I seriously doubt that they will make it back to Disney to use leftover days on 4 day hoppers. Oh well.

You will be allowed to purchase UPH's for them. The resort front desk CM's can sell UPH's for any length. They can tailor their tickets to their needs.

I thought so too. They even asked if we were going in to the park on our last day or they would shorten our length of stay pass.

The front desk staff CAN only drop the first and last day off a resort stay. The OP is staying 9 days/8 nights. The shortest pass she can buy is 7 days/6 nights, dropping her first and last night only. You can not buy an UPH for a customized amount of time, that's what park hoppers are for. UPH are for length of stay only and must be consecutive. The OP has people joining her for 2 nights of her 8 night stay, therefore an UPH is not an option for her.

Your information is only correct when the UPH's are purchased as part of a package.

The resort front desk CM's have great latitude in ticketing when the tickets are purchased at check-in. Different tickets can be sold to different people right on the Resort ID card. Two could have UPH's while others get 7 day PHP's or even 2 day/2 park tickets. In addition, each person does not have to buy a ticket. Each person's ticket can be customized to their specific needs. She can ABSOLUTELY get a UPH for the in-laws for their short stay with them. It happens all the time.

Oh I hope you are right! It would be so nice to be able to park hop since they are only there for 2 days!

I agree, I don't believe you'll have any trouble getting UPH's for your in-laws.

We have 4 people in our group. 3 of us have PAP's, but we are able to get an UPH for the one in our group that doesn't a PAP. You can't buy them this way in a package or in advance, but they can be purchased at check-in. They can indeed tailor your tickets to fit your individual needs.

That's interesting, since I was told the EXACT opposite by a CM at the WL. We were having family join us for 3 nights last year and were told, since our room keys were valid for MANY more dates than they were staying (arrived and left mid stay) they could not and would not give then UPH. We always buy AP's so always have a room only ressie, or are using DVC points.

While I can appreciate what happened to you, the only thing I can say is that the front desk CM who you spoke to was wrong. The UPH for the mid-stay arriving parties goes on their own resort ID's. Since their ID's are keyed only to the dates of the stay that you supply to the CM, the UPH's can be added to them. In effect what happens is that the mid-stay arrivals are set up just like it was their own mini-reservation.

Say you are staying Sunday to Sunday. Your guests arrive Tuesday and leave on Friday. When the resort CM does an ID for them, it will be for Tuesday through Friday, not Sunday through Sunday. Your guests can have a UPH added to their ID even if you do not have UPH's on your own reservation.

What the CM cannot do is give you an ID that runs from Sunday to Sunday and put a UPH on it that would only be good from Tuesday to Friday.
