Once I buy a registration it is mine, it no longer belongs to the RD regardless of what they say. When I buy a car it no longer belongs to the car company, it is mine. When I buy a book it no longer belongs to the publisher, it is mine. I can resell either of them.
I look at anything I buy the exact same, it is mine to do with what I want (provided no law is being broken). I disregard licensing "rules".
Funny, by selling your license to run in the race you are not breaking a law but you ARE breaking a contract. An act that can still land you in civil court. Will it? Prabably not as I can't imagine any RD ever figuring it out ... until the day a pirate runner dies on course and the race is sued for any number of reasons. Then the RD will be looking to to original holder of the bib looking to see if they can spread some of the pain. Obviously if tied to the mouse or other deep pockets a jury would be hard pressed to say you an individual were at fault.
There needs to be a mechanism to allow folks an out.
Oh, Bill Gates wants to know where you live
