Inherited a Collection

My dad recently passed away, and when he was alive he was an avid collector all throughout the 90's and early 2000's of Disney collectibles. I inherited his entire collection, and times are tough. Every year he would make sure he got complete sets of whatever the newest thing was. I now have 500+ limited edition statues, plates, snowglobes, animation cells, and other random art. I want to sell all of it, but it is overwhelming to sell them one by one on Ebay. Ideally I want to sell the whole lot. I was going to call the Walt Disney Collectible Society, but apparently they discontinued that in 2009. Is there an expert Disney collector I can call? Can someone out there help me? Do I go to a Authorized Dealer? Who is the best Disney Dealer? How do I look up prices?

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

I'm sorry for your loss. I know it is a daunting task but I think I would go through and do each item individually on eBay, or perhaps contact an auction house to see what they think. Be sure you go through it yourself, there may something in there that your Dad was particularly fond of and you may decide to keep a few things. No one on this board is an expert in valuing items, we are just hobby collectors.
Good luck to you!

Hi, so sorry to hear about your loss. I faced a similar situation (not Disney collectibles) when my dad passed. I played hell trying to get everything valued.

Naturally it is entirely up to you what feels right for you and you should take your time to think about it, but if it is a huge collection, you may want to consider doing some research for your own peace of mind. It may also help you to come up with a figure for the entire collection that you will be happy with because there are collectors out there that buy entire collections.

I'm an avid collector of Limited Edition Disney items and I can probably help you value stuff if you can post or message me a list, but I am not an expert in all Disney items. I know quite a few other collectors too so I could maybe draw on their knowledge too.

Let me know if you think I can help, if not good luck with finding new homes for all of the items.

I too would recommend "Theme Park Connection" in Winter garden, Florida. They buy entire collections.

I am sorry for your loss. I am sure it is difficult. If you are in absolute need of parting with your father's collection, as someone said, you really should go through it yourself. There may be something that triggers a great memory for you that you want to keep.

I recently bought from Theme Park Connection on ebay and they sent me a postcard advertising their B&M store in Florida. Seems they are pretty huge. They buy, sell and trade. They have a phone number you can call from 10 - 5 eastern. Keep in mind that if you use a middle man, they take a cut, because they have to make a profit. So, you won't get an items true value. If you are looking for the most for your money you are going to want to explore all options before making a decision.
