Ingredient List Beforehand?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get any ingredient lists beforehand? I've tried contacting Disneyland before and they basically said you have to go to each individual place because items change. (Which I would still do anyways.) However, I have MULTIPLE allergies I would like to have some idea of possibilities of where I can find anything to eat at all. Plus, I don't always trust what some people say without reading the "hidden" ingredients. I will pack some items from home, but there's only so much you can take on a plane. Thanks for any and all help!

Can you share what some/all of your allergies are? There are a lot of DISers here with allergies or with family members who have allergies. We have a lot of experience to share about where to eat in the parks or in the area around the parks.

I also have multiple allergies and sensitivities, but have not been able to rely on getting ingredient lists from the parks before a visit. Disney is correct that suppliers can change at any time, therefore ingredients can change at any time. It does no good to rely on an outdated ingredient list. Your best bet may be to ask a chef to speak with you at each location where you dine, CS or TS. For TS, note on every reservation that you have allergies, what they are, and that you would like a chef to speak with you. Repeat this at check in and with your server. It helps if you have your allergies and safe foods printed on cards that can be given to the chefs so they know what they're working with. Even at CS locations, a chef can walk you through the menu and possibly adapt something for you. Always have your meds handy and some safe foods with you to keep you going. The combo of bringing my own food/snacks and speaking with the chefs has worked fine for me so far at DLR. By the way, if you can time your meals and reservations for off peak hours, that will really be to your advantage. The chefs will have more time for you if the kitchen isn't swamped. And since making something custom for you can take extra time at CS locations, going when the kitchen isn't super busy already will be helpful.

No. But when I inquired for example at award wieners they tore off the ingredients off the package so I could see it. Very helpful.

I have Celiac. It's just too variable and changeable for them to give you information beforehand. Even if they did, you'd still have to re-confirm it with them at the time of ordering to be sure nothing had changed. Remember that they do have your safety and health in mind when they set their policies. Well, and their liability too, of course.

I understand your fear. It can be really scary when you 'put your trust' in someone to be aware and serious about your allergies.

Below is a link to the 'major allergen friendly' menus at DL. You have to scroll down below the WDW ones. Do note the dates shown for them as some of them are not real current. Without knowing your allergies I don't know how helpful they'll be.

Another thing to remember is that at TS places the chefs have more fresh ingredients to work with so you're much more likely to find them able to accommodate multiple allergies by cooking completely 'off menu'. Other places usually just have the basic ingredients on their menu and are only able to add/subtract items for the dishes on the menu.

You can get the recipes on line these days.. lots of people ask the chef for a copy and then post them online.. hope you find what you are looking for !

The main ones are wheat (all types including rye and buckwheat), corn, oats, seafood, and melons.

I was just going to use it as a starting place. For example, if I know a place at least serves a pizza with Udi's gluten free crust, I can't have it and I will instead go to the restaurant that might not specify their gluten free crust and check that ingredient list.

Thanks, I will definitely do that!

I always double check. My biggest problems have been with a lot of gluten free substitutes are ingredients that I am allergic to as well or chefs not knowing the ingredients. For example, most powered sugar has corn starch in it. I had a chef in Universal Orlando suggest popcorn to me.

Make sure that your allergy cards clearly list your safe foods. It can be overwhelming for someone to get a big list of "don't use" and "can't have," but I have yet to meet a Disney chef who was flustered by my list of "absolutely safe" foods. If I can show a chef a list of at least 10 foods that I know are safe, it's pretty easy to ask, "So, can you do something with these?" I notice that eggs aren't on your list -- those are pretty easy to work with. Also dairy. (That's a cheese omelette right there!) I can't have certain fruit salads or bowls, but I've always been able to ask for a separate bowl of just one or two safe fruits. If powdered sugar is a problem, ask for NO powdered sugar on anything. Or ask for most/all things on the side. Disney is really pretty good about things like this as long as you are as clear as you can be about communicating with the serving staff and kitchen about your needs and not assuming anything.

That's a good idea. Usually I just look at a menu and just ask them to modify something. Like just give me a plain hamburger patty. Not very enjoyable food, but it feeds me and is the least hassle. My safe foods are what everyone considers unhealthy...dairy, eggs and beef. :)

Some quick service in DL has more regular, whole food type meals than fast food so those might be your best bets. I'm GF and I liked Flo's, it had chicken, mashed potatoes, coleslaw etc. I also like the Mexican quick service place but if you can't have corn you probably should avoid that place like the plague lol. There is an app I was able to download to get an idea of what each place had before we went over to them, not official disney but someone maintains it so it was easier to navigate the parks being GF. Also in Downtown Disney some areas are good with allergies and there is also that whole mall area with chain restaurants (cali pizza kitchen, pf changs etc).

I totally get it -- those are usually on my safe list, too. (Even though I do have dairy allergies, I can still work with some dairy foods better than I can with other things. So, it's a matter of give and take, depending on the context.) Hey, considering it's DLR, as long as they're healthy for me (within reason), then they're healthy! :)
