ING Accounts--What happens if you complete all 25 referrals?

I've had my INGDirect account for about a year now and been quite happy with it. They give you 25 referrals per account to send out to other people. So far, I've completed 22 referrals. Do you get any kind of special bonus if and when you've made all 25 referrals? I opened an account for myself, dh, and two kids. Each account has 25 referrals to give. However, I made the mistake of sending all my referrals thus far from dh's account. The bonus money you receive for each completed referral is considered interest and reported as such for income taxes. While that wouldn't mean a whole lot in our bracket, why pay any more than you have to? What I should have done was send the referrals from my kids accounts first. In their income bracket (nothing!) the amount of interest earned wouldn't be taxed at all. Oh, well, live and learn! However, I thought I read somewhere that you get some sort of bonus if you complete all 25 referrals from one account. Has anyone completed all 25 referrals and received any bonus? BTW, if you're not familiar with the ING accounts, they're a great way to save. There's several good threads on this board that spell out the details if you're interested.:chat:

no, no special bonus or anything. You can still send up to 25 referrals for home equity loans and can look at your refer a friend page for orange savings but it just says that you no longer have referrals available. Nothing special at all.

I should've send them from DD account as well then. Oh well, like you said, live and learn.

Don't think I'll have to worry about getting 25 referral anyway. Only 2 friends signed up as some others were hesitant.

Good luck saving for Disney. It is fun...

Send some my way ;)

Just kidding. Congrats! I think that is quite an accomplishment because I can't even get one referral.

Congratulations!! That is wonderful that you have gotten some many people involved in a good saving plan.

Everyone that I talk to about it seems hesitant also. I think people are just cautious when it comes to something that seems too good to be true. Like a company giving you $25.00 just for signing up.

Oh Well! They are the ones that are missing out on a good saving plan.

Completely agree - everyone i have talked to just won't do it, they either "don't trust online banking" or think there has to be a catch. Oh well, their loss. I have sent out one referal that was requested but the person did not sign up - must have changed their mind.

Even without the referrals, its a GREAT savings account and I love it!

I've had ING for quite a while and I love it. However, not enough people are willing to try it for themselves. I know how they feel, it was a big jump for me to have trusted in it but I checked them out before I did it and they are legit. We have saved quite a bit for our upcoming trip and now we are going to start saving with ING for our next trip or maybe for Christmas. It's a GREAT way to save money for people that have trouble saving. I tend to run to my regular saving for each little crisis. I can't do that with ING so it's perfect for me. --Renee::MinnieMo

One of the threads is on the top of the budget board as a sticky,
you can also use the search option on the top of this page to find all threads and posts made about ING , if your still skeptical you can call ING 1-800-ing-direct but, you will not get the referral bonus:( like one of the other posters said even without the referrals , it's still a great savings.

Anyone who's interested in an ING account can go to their website WWW.INGDIRECT.COM and get all their questions answered there. You might also check it out with the FDIC WWW.FDCI.GOV. They're a fully insured bank. But you should always check out anything that involves your money. :wave2: :wave2:
