I could see Aug busier than Sept as school probably hasn’t started for everyone-

Im used to booking way late (Cast discount) so used to everything booked solid 60+ days out not only one mixology session sold out at 66 days..

For those of you cruising with soon up coming cruises I'm curious if you have called customer service.
Just wondering what they tell you when asking about your sail date? A canned response or more "It
is fluid situation and we will let you know ASAP!"
You will get the canned answer until the second they release info officially as they know they tell person A something it’ll be broadcast in seconds and everyone else will blow up the phone lines..

I’m 99.9% sure DCL knows what’s happening but I think the positive tests flawed the plans and now it’s operating on the same assumptions just no official word in case things go flawed again

I can't remember the last time i did a mixology session but I remember making my own drink. When did
that change and why? I mean I understand now doing it but another poster said even before Covid it had
changed.

I have no doubt that DCL knows exactly what their plans are. There's no way they do not at this juncture. It's just that, for reasons that defy all logic and common sense, they refuse to make those plans public.

Unfortunately I think DCL has several "plans" and they just cant decide which one to pick.

They could have Plan A if the CSO is upheld but that may require things like reserving kids club time that they have not yet enabled for US cruises. Choosing this option may force a cancellation of a few more weeks of cruises but they can't choose it until after July 18th

Plan B if the CSO is rejected, cruise is as normal as possible, they can tell everyone on the 19th, sailings happen as usual on Aug 9th, but they give an out to people who don't like the protocols

I feel like the delay is all due to the cancelled test sailing. Assuming CSO stays in place, they cant sail until a successful test cruise is over. Until they can actually get that cruise out and back, we may not hear anything.

They changed a few years ago to having all of the drinks pre-made for you in the Mixology class. I can't remember exactly when. The last time I remember doing the mixing ourselves was back in 2015.

We did mixology on the magic in 2019 and all participated in making drinks behind the bar. I was assigned to make a mojito.

We did it on the Dream in 2018. I wonder if this may be cruise-specific depending on whether there have been any reported noro cases onboard.

We made our own drinks at a mixology on the Fantasy last February, just a few weeks prior to the shutdown.

I have been seeing more and more comments wanting more and faster information from DCL. I understand, and we all need to know what to do if our cruise is on that time bubble and we all want to travel and make the most of our money. BUT, we keep comparing to other cruise lines that seem to be putting out things, then a day or 2 later retracting, changing, or whatever. To me the ever changing story is more confusing. I know that there are some cruises that due to the nature of timing, have little to no chance of happening, but DCL wants every cruise they can get people on to cruise. They are losing money sitting idle. They have every intention to cruise soon, but the ever changing rules and "inconsistent" tests are making it harder as well. I am not trying to start a debate on the rules themselves, but really, is less confusing, while less frequent news better, or do you prefer more updates that so far have tended to change?
I think when Disney does release their protocols it will be set in stone until they start reducing restrictions. I expect it to be similar to how they approached the parks.
You are correct about other cruiselines. I have cruise credit on Carnival, but for the life of me I can’t figure out what their plans are in Florida after the first couple of cruises.

I did a quick check of available rooms, not knowing how many GTY rooms are booked (I'm 1 of them) I would estimate the 8/9 cruise is maybe 75-80% booked...but that is a big estimation. I could be way off. ;)

I just went through the DCL site for the Aug 16th Dream. There were 387 rooms out of the 1,250 available. I think it was limiting how many rooms it was showing at 16. every floor aft and forward showed 16 available Verandah.

Yeah 16 is the max so there may be more available- I know on my last 2 GTYs they came from rooms that didn’t pop up as available

A-ha! So there is no way to tell. Hmmm??? :headache:

We are booked on the 8/16 Dream and just noticed the itinerary changed - Day 2 is now at sea, Day 3 is Nassau, Day 4 Castaway. I had Palo Brunch for day 4 which was originally an at Sea Day- sure do not want to miss CC for it. Anyone on the 8/9, 8/23 or 8/30 see these changes?

Same for 8/23. Day 2 is at sea. Day 3 Nassau. Day 4 castaway cay. Not sure it is a change though :)

Just checked the original booking confirmation. It is a change!

I agree in part. They likely have several plans, but they can't select one until the situation settles down. Seems every day I read about some new issue that has come up in the cruise industry related to covid and restarting. Disney can hurry, and have to change course, or wait it out in an effort to make sure they get it right for their customers.

I agree. And now with NCLs new lawsuit they filed today, things might shake up even more in the cruise industry. (I won't go thru that here due to forum rules, people are free to Google it)

I'm ok with Disney waiting it out, but getting this close and saying nothing at all is just unacceptable. If they are waiting for things to settle down, cancel more cruises and give people some peace of mind.
