Informal DIS meet for F&W and Half-marathon

As a F&W n00b, I have some questions.

When does the food start? Like when can we eat? When can we drink? (Isn't that the question all the time?)

As this is opening weekend I assume it will be crazy busy, right? (Silly townies/locals go home. Enjoy it when we're not there!!)

How many people are going to MNNSHP on Sunday the 3rd?

Would Monday the 4th be a good time to have a session of Nosh/Snack/Devour Epcot?

My assumption is also that F&W will be crowded that weekend, I'll likely pop in for lunch on my HS day instead of eating there. But I'm planning on Monday being all F&W all day!

I will be at MNSSHP on 10/3 as well.

Monday the 4th would be better because of crowds, but I wonder how many DISers or runners are leaving that day. Although with the race(s) on Saturday and the Halloween party on Sunday night, Monday maybe our best option for a F&W meet.

I know lots of runners are making this a quick trip and heading home on Sunday. Perhaps a Saturday group could work for those...I'd love to pop into that one too!

My plans are pretty fluid for this weekend at this point. I'm not sure what I will be doing between the Halloween 5K and the ½ Marathon on Saturday. Don't know if I will want to deal with the masses.

I plan on sleeping in on Sunday.

I might need to see about switching my flight to Tuesday and finding another night of lodging......

That is what I am doing. I plan on being in Epcot most of the day on Saturday so if there is any get together I'd stop buy.

This is exactly our plan, too. We're flying in Friday for the expo and MNSSHP, EPCOT all day Saturday, race at night, fly out on Sunday after Cape May breakfast.

Hypothetically speaking, if we set a time and a place and used the same time and place for Saturday, Sunday and Monday; we could have a come as you desire/are able rolling taste-fest....

I may spend my entire weekend in Epcot that way! (I would not complain though, as its my favorite park.)

That would be boss. Epcot is my favorite park too so even if I were there the whole weekend a meet in Epcot everyday would be fine with me. :thumbsup2

We have already tentatively planned to be at F&W on Monday the 4th, so that fits in easily with our plans...but we may be in and out, depending on how our kids are dealing with day (BTW, is anyone else traveling with kids???) We too, are at MNSSHP for the 3rd.

Dawn,
Is it too late to try to get on with Boma? We may schedule a dinner a bit after your planned time if it is (but now that they extended free dining, it may be hard!). I am thinking the kids race at WWS won't be too long, and we may be able to meet up with the group. We are supposed to be a WCC, but I will certainly prefer to hit Boma again :), plus, we are staying at Kidani, so it seems like a bit of no brainer.

Hooray! I get to see you at the race, MNSSHP, F&W AND now Boma! Awesome! I'm going to be like a new family member after this trip! :rotfl2:

I've got you in the Boma line up!

I've found that trying to keep a group together at Food and Wine while tasting and sipping can be a challenge. I usually travel to F&W with a group of women and we can only very loosely stay together while traveling around World Showcase.
Maybe others are better at it than we are.
Now, where we DO get to spend some quality time all in one place is.......Jellyrolls. A bunch of my group will be there Sunday and Monday night. I'd love to see some other DIsers there.
You'll recognize us. Group of 30's and 40's women trying to work their way to a front row table while also trying to relive lost youth. We request LOTS of songs, sing loud and have been know to kick up our heels. Hmmmm.....maybe I've just scared away quite a few decent people.....I may have described half the patrons of the bar on any given night!
Hope to see some other Dis runners there to celebrate our success!

Tammy

Sat, Sun or Monday is good for me. I have dinners booked but could get together afterwards.

Hey everyone: If anyone was sitting on the fence, Disney Endurance just updated their website that the Wine and Dine Half Marathon is closed. The 5K is still open, but registration is full for the half marathon October 2nd.

Oh, no! I didn't register yet! I just didn't expect it to sell out.....kicking myself now.

I am so bummed you missed the deadline for the Half! Someone on another thread missed it too and others had the great suggestion of still doing the 5K. Maybe that could work for you?

Thank you, I am bummed too, and no one to blame but my own procrastinating self!
We're staying offsite Friday, so I don't think the 5K would work very well for me. If they have it again next year, I will sign up immediately, I've learned my lesson............maybe. :goodvibes

Hey Everyone -

In regards to a meet during the opening weekend of Food & Wine it seems like a lot of DISers will be around for the races. Since Saturday is the day for the 5K, Half Relay, and Half Marathon that may not be a good day for a meet. Also, Sunday evening a lot of folks will be attending MNSSHP so that will not be a good time as well. It sounds like a number of people are leaving on the Monday following the races.

What does everyone think about having a meet around 1:00PM Sunday, Oct 3rd over at EPCOT. I figure that maybe the best time for a meet. Just throwing a "stake in the ground" to see what everyone thought. World Showcase will be packed with locals and tourists enjoying the Food & Wine festivities. We should probably meet over in Future World. My suggestion is we meet over at the Land Pavillion at Sunshine Seasons. This way you can grab a bite to eat if you wish while we meet. Does anyone think seating will be difficult? It can get full at times.

After the meet those going to the MK for MNSSHP can jump on the monorail and head over around 4:00PM for the party.

If you guys think this is a good idea I can start a new thread with the information and keep track of who's coming. If you have other suggestions on the time and place let me know.

Thoughts?

Not sure what time we're flying out on Sunday, but it sounds good to me, temporarily. We'll probably have to catch the DME around 2 or 3.

That's not a bad idea. We'll be checking into BCV that day and could probably head over for a bit. That is if I can tear dbf away from the pool. I promised him one or two pool days this trip. He is not quite the disney fanatic I am. :confused3

I could probably plan to work that in. :thumbsup2
