In four weeks time we intend to use the twilight checkin service with virgin. My question is:-

a) What time do you have to be back in the airport if the flight is due to leave at 11.15.

and

b) Where do you go when you get back to the airport in the morning, straight to security or something else?

Thanks, alison.

When we done this in September our flight was the 12.30 one. We arrived at the airport at about 10 o'clock to have a mooch round a few shops.....we went through security at about 11.30....looked round a short while and then went on through to the gate at about 12.

Hi,
Twilight check-in is great-cuts out a lot of the stress.
Virgin start boarding about an hour before take-off time.
A jumbo takes a long time to load so this is not as daft as it perhaps sounds. If you have small children or need special assistance it makes sense to be there in good time. If you don't have these you still need to keep an eye on the time as you need to go thru security and then catch the shuttle to the sattelite gates. The plane probably won't go without you but you won't be too popular with your fellow passengers if you keep them waiting and the take-off slot is lost!
They aim to have the aircraft doors shut 15-20 minutes before departure time so you don't have as much time as you might imagine.
Queues can be quite long in the morning at security but there are loads of places to eat & shop after you have that out of the way. There is also a snack bar at the gates so if you are there early you won't go without.
Have a wonderful time,
Regards,
Carol:)

we did twilight checkin a couple of weeks ago on the 11.15am flight and it saved us lots of time

we were told we still needed to be through security an hour before the flight departs (ie in the departure lounge) but we wanted to have breakfast and a leisurely browse round the shops and got to the airport just before 9am i think and the time quickly went even with an hour delay

they also start boarding upper class then premium economy first and then from the back of the plane so if you're sat at the front you'll be last on

when you checkin the night before you'll be advised exactly what time you need to be at the airport the following day though
