Planning a trip to wdw (of course) in December and planning to stay in an executive tower suite at the Hotel Royal Plaza. Selected this room because it's supposed to have a seperate L/R and a whirlpool tub. Does anyone have any opinions on this hotel and most importantly this room type in particular.

Also, the information I've rec'd online says HRP is a pleasant 10-15 min. stroll to down town Dis. Opinions on this if possible .

Thanks for your help, these boards always play a big part in our decisions for vacation.

We like the Royal Plaza because it's a nice hotel for the money. (Hope you're not paying a heck of a lot.) The bathrooms are indeed nice, but do not expect your suite to have two rooms, in the truest sense of the word. What you will get is a big room with a small divider that separates the bed area from a little sitting area with a chair that pulls out into a single bed. If you need privacy between rooms, you won't be getting it.

The staff at the Royal Plaza is great; nice pool with a little Chickee Hut bar, and a cheap but run-of-the-mill breakfast buffet.

rejobako,
Have you stayed in this suite?

This is the write up on this room, from this site. This is the room I have booked.
Are you saying, you don't get these accomodations?

"In the Executive King Suite, French doors separate the parlour area from the bedroom area and the full bath includes a Jacuzzi and shower and a breath-taking view is available from the private balcony."

kcarp: forgive me: after I read your post I logged on to the Royal Plaza's site and found that they indeed do have something separate from the regular tower rooms called an "Executive King", which does have separate rooms.

With that information, I could recommend it unequivocally. As I said on another thread, I think the Royal Plaza is the best value for the money on off-site accommodations. Nice big bathrooms with marble, and very well maintained common areas. But my favorite thing about the place was the staff: we were treated very well by everyone. I particularly remember that there was a logjam at the front desk due to an arriving tourbus; the staff handled everything efficiently and without getting frazzled; they even gave my little daughter a toy to keep her occupied while we waited in the comfortable chairs in the lobby area.

(Only one thing: I'm guessing that although your view will probably be nice, you'll probably think the description of "breathtaking" a bit of hyperbole.)

Thanks for all the answers we received. We have always stayed in disney resorts before but, I find the cost for the type of room we want is just too much since they closed the Disney Institute. (That was my all time fav).

If everything I read is correct the executive King has a separate l/r area divided by doors. I really look forward to the whirlpool after a long day of walking the parks.

Thanks again for everyone's help!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

cocoapuff: If you liked the Disney Institute's amenities, you might want to try finding a high-quality timeshare rental offsite. Some timeshares offer daily rentals with daily cleaning service, especially during low-attendance times of the year. We rented a Marriott timeshare at their Royal Palms units right next to the Marriott World Center for $139 a night: immaculate 2 bedroom 2 bath with a full size jacuzzi in the main bedroom.

I prefer staying onsite as well, but to get that kind of deal just two miles down the road: we couldn't pass it up.

Thanks again for the info and suggestions. We'd like to stay as close to down town as possible and walk there each night so even two miles is way out of the question after a long day walking.:)
The place you stayed sounds great and we did look at some places a mile or two away but, really love the convenience of being almost on site at down town disney.
Thanks again, I can always rely on dis info.:smooth:

cocoapuff,

I'm with you on that one, that's my game plan too, being close to DD. I Love Pleasure Island @ night and don't have to worry about the bus or cab, also scoring the Ex King Tower Suite @ Hotel Royal Plaza for $109.00 a night wasn't bad either.
