Info on Studios and 1 Bdrm

Can anyone tell me where the washer/dryers are for the studios at the BWV? I know they have them available, but are they convenient to use?

Also - for two people who will be in the parks all day over the course of 10 days - is it worth it to get a one-bedrm - or just save points and stay at the studio?

If I was only traveling with 2 people, and knew that I would only be in the room an hour prior to bedtime, and an hour in the morning, I would go with the studio.

JMHO... I'd go stir crazy if we spent 10 days in a studio. And we spend most of our time at parks, restaurants, etc. But I go to bed later than DW, and she gets up earlier than me. So having that second room where one person can watch TV without disturbing the other is essential.

Having the kitchen isn't essential (to us), but it's nice to be able to have breakfast, store big quantities of bottled water/beer and leftovers, etc.

The problem is, once you step up to a 1BR a studio just isn't the same any more.

The room is completely an individual call. If you're comfortable in a standard hotel room, you'd be fine in a studio. But if you like a suite, then you probably want the 1 bedroom.

The washer/dryer is on the first floor, just outside the elevators. As I recall, if you turn left (just a little turn) out of the elevator, you hit the exercise room. If you turn right and go down the hall, the laundry room is a short distance down.

tkd lisa described the location well. Depending on where you are located at BWV, it could range everywhere from pretty convenient to very inconvenient. Even the midrange of distance from a villa to the washer/dryer I would have to consider inconvenient.

"Worth it" is completely subjective. If you are truly in the parks all day and only use the room to sleep and shower, then a studio would be plenty fine. But if you enjoy some lounging time or the convenience of a washer/dryer in the villa (not to mention full fridge, microwave and that stove decoration thing) then the 1BR is a very nice luxury treat.

For DW & I, we would always go with the 1BR unless we just didn't have the points available for some reason....especially on trips of more than just a few days. YMMV

I agree with the 1BR. Because the W?D is so convenient, we use it frequently for small loads. Thus for longer stays, we can pack much lighter.

Once you've stayed in a one bedroom, you won't want to stay in a studio. I've often stayed in a one bedroom when I'm on my own for business. The washer and dryer and the meeting/dining space make it worth it to me.

My opinion differs from most. I spent a week in a two bedrom, and while it was great, and I loved the washer dryer, I have only stayed in a one or two bedroom that one time. I always stay in a studio. For me it comes down to being cheap One bedrooms are double the points of a studio. So I can either take two trips in a studio or one in a one bedroom. We've always stayed in regular hotels rooms, 2 kids/2adults. This trip it will be 6 adults and we are getting two studios. It's 10 points a night more to stay in a two bedroom so we'll keep those points and go again this year. (Thank goodness my family is close and not modest!!)

Just to give you an example....here is our touring style:
Wake up early, at the park by 8, back around 1-2 and take a nap/swim/rest until about 4 then back to parks until closing. We do eat breakfast and snacks in the room, but not much else. We also all tend to go to bed about the same time...late


As far as washing clothes we normally hang at the pool while laundry is in the works (OKW). For a long trip it gives us a nice morning of sleeping in!

I would start my stay in a studio (and if you can plan a weekend in studio) and then the rest of my stay in a 1 BDR. You will have saved some points and will enjoy the extra space w/the washer and dryer.

This is great advice! I am assuming this is your first DVC trip. Once you stay in a 1 bedroom, you will understand why many dislike staying in studios. You get spoiled with that in room laundry, jacuzzi, king bed, etc, etc.
