DH and I will make our first trip home to SSR in September. He is a golfer, I am not. I have some very basic questions about the golf course. First what is the name of the course attached to SSR? The approximate cost of 18 holes w/cart. Can you rent clubs and the approximate cost? Do they allow a non-golfer to ride along for a fee? If I am allowed to ride along on the course, would we still be paired up with other golfers?

I know these are very simple (stupid) questions and I apologize. I have no experience at all with WDW golf courses.

Thanks for your help.

I'll take a shot here:

The Lake Buena Vista course is attached to SSR. The day rate is likely to be close to $100 for a round of golf. However, DVC members are eligible to purchase an annual golf membership for just $50. After that one-time fee, your DH (and up to three guests) get heavily discounted rates for an entire year. The rate through September 29th is just $35 per round.

Equipment rental runs about $50 per golfer. I thought I had read somewhere that they have run promotions in the past where either DVC members or Annual Passholders could get free equipment rental. Can't find any info on that right now, though.

On these answers, I'm just guessing:

* I don't think you would have any problem riding along.
* You probably will be paired up with other golfers. If not, you'll spend a lot of time waiting while larger groups ahead finish a hole.

Here's a link to Disney's official golf page:

And here's an unofficial page that may be of interest (although last time I visited it the owner wasn't updating the content at all):

The Lake Buena Vista is one of five 18-hole golf courses at WDW. In September, regular rates for on-site guests are likely to be $95 before 10 a.m. After 10, there is the summer "price slice" (until the end of September) and the rate will drop to $45. After 3 is the twilight rate of $25. A non-golfer can ride along for a fee, not sure of the additional rate but believe it is about $25. Club rentals (Titleist) are $40 for steel shafts and $45 for graphite and shoes are $7. All above prices are before 6 1/2% tax. Tee times (407-WDW-GOLF) can be made up to 90 days in advance. As a single or even single with rider, they will automatically hook you up with others in the morning when there is heavy play. Closer to noon and from noon to 3, you can ask not to be hooked up and usually that is OK in September because not that many are seeking to tee off during those times.

If you have an annual pass, you get a 30% discount for those times before 10 during September for yourself and up to three others in same party.

DVC has a golf discount program for which you need to purchase an annual DVC golf card (you get it at the clubhouse when you show up) for $50 plus tax. It applies to tee times after 10 and not before. At that time of year the DVC card allows you (and three others in the same party) to play for $35 a round at any of the 5 courses, for LBV that is only a $10 discount but for Osprey Ridge, the most expensive course, it would be a $30 discount. Note, you should not buy the discount card if you are only going to play once or twice in September and then not play again for a year -- because of the card fee, you need to play enough to make up for it for a true discount to set in.
