Info for rides that are down????

Does Disney use the ?communication boards at the entrance to parks to let guests know if rides are down? I am trying to figure out if we arrive at say rope drop and want to head straight for say EE at AK, but its down. I would HATE to rush their with DD only to find its down and then we need to go ALL the way to the other side of the park for our FP+ for KS.
Is there a way to find out which rides are down once you get to the parks

Other than Guest Relations, I'm not aware of any way to tell if rides (that you aren't at) are down. Refurbs excepted, of course.

If you subscribe to touringplans or have access to a similar app that you have faith in, it usually shows up there, but they rely on guests to send in reports to update the information so it is only reliable if someone has beaten you to it and submitted a report.

Unfortunately getting to a ride and finding it closed happens occasionally but it beats standing in line and then having the ride break down when you are about to board Or at least I'd rather run for nothing than stand around for nothing.

Unfortunately unless if you are using their app you don't know that a ride is down for maintenance that day. Most other parks around the country have a sign board out front that tells you what is down for the day.

Last week, while at WDW, we had FP+ scheduled for Buzz on our last MK day. About fifteen minutes before our scheduled time, I checked my phone and saw I had an email from Disney Destinations informing me of the ride closure and offering eight other attractions as replacements.

I'm unclear as to whether the OP is asking about rehabs or a ride going down unexpectedly. Rehabs are not a problem as there are various places you can find this information ahead of time. Rides going down unplanned are just bad luck.

This has happened to me as well, although I didn't get my email until 15 minutes after I visited Big Thunder Mountain for my FP+ return only to find it broken.

When I login to the MyDisneyExperience site, I still have an alert at the top saying:
"My Plans Change There's been a change to your FastPass+ selection for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad on 03/02/2014. Visit My Plans for details."
