Hello,

Anyone out here have one of these things in their backyard?? I'm looking into this but personally do not know anyone that owns this.

Is it worth the price, durable. Please tell me your stories, comments and the ugly.

Does it last for more than one summer???

By the way, I asked this question last summer and never got a response. Apparently it's not a very popular item.

Since you asked about durability, I'm guessing that you are concerned that the the ones you buy in local retail stores may not be durable?

I ask because I know of a company that makes great water slides, but super pricey.... over $1000.

We purchased one last summer and it held up really well. The only down side i can see is when you pack it up and fail to get all of the water out it can then smell musty.

Actually, they are really popular in my neighborhood and I feel like the mean mommy for only providing a slip and slide and a kiddie pool for my kids. However, I worry about the liability when it would go up in the backyard and all of the neighbor kids pile onto it.....which is exactly what happens to the neighbors down the hill, across the street, on the cul-de-sac, etc.

We got one last summer. The first slide lasted only a month or so and it stopped holding enough air to keep it pumped. I called the manufacturer for a replacement slide and they sent one that had a rip in it. So, I called for another replacement. That's the one we just pulled out of storage and, yep, it doesn't hold enough air to keep it pumped sufficiently. But, it's too late for another replacement. Basically we spent $450 on a slide for one summer. Not really worth it in my opinion.

Our neighbors behind us had one last year, which they used all the time. Not sure what happened to it, but they have a new, bigger one this year.

We bought one 3 summers ago, and we love it. The kids spend hours on it, literally running to climb back up on it for hours. :rotfl: Great exercise. It definitely requires supervision, though, as they tend to get a bit rowdy.

We just bought a bigger one yesterday, actually. Can't wait to try it out, but the weather is cooperating.

We bought one last summer and the kids had a blast on it all summer long. We took it out this summer and used it twice and then discovered there was a tear along the seam and so luckily we had purchased the extended warranty and recieved a giftcard to ToysrUS for the amount we paid ($250). They didn't have the same slide and ended up having to upgrade to a bigger more expensive slide ($100) more. They love the slide, but they seem to only last one season, from other reports I have read.

I think the age range depends on which slide you get. You can go to Toysrus website and check.

We have had the bonzai waterslide for 3 years. This will be our 4th summer with it. We have not used it yet this summer but so far we got our moneys worth. Both my sons have summer birthdays. I was going to rent one but then found this one for $225. So we used it for 4 birthday parties so far plus numerous times just us. It's great.

Papa Duece --- do you have a website address for the higher end inflatables??

I'm getting good responses too. I also check out Toyrus.com water slide comments and they're positive too.

OK, another question --- can me, a female with thin arms be able to set it up by myself? Or does it need two adults?

We bought that one that is on sale at Torsrus yesterday. And it is HEAVY! you need 2 people imho. But the kids loved it. It is so heavy however that I left it right where it was so we can use it again today.

Oh and on the 3 minute set up- it was more like 30 minutes.

Can't talk about the durability since it's only been 1 day!:rotfl2:

It says ages 5 and up. It can hold someone up to 180 pounds and a total of 400 pounds on the entire slide.
It is high! about 15 feet up but my 3 year old was going down it. WITH SUPERVISION.

Good luck. I know our Costco had the BIGGER one than that $450 one at toysrus. But our local one was sold out of it. But if you are a costco member- check them out.

I can't answer the Ops question but I do know if you put soap on one you slide better.:rotfl:

You must own the one some friends have. This is the 3rd summer I think they have it. I have no idea about the kids POV but it holds up under a bunch of drunk adults:duck: :rotfl:

There is no way it could be put up alone either I don't think. It's heavy and just quite large overall.

We got one last year. We got it just in time for my DD's birthday party and they had a blast on it. After less than 1 month, the air pump/blower went out. We took it back to Sam's for an exchange, but since they didn't have another one we got our money back. We haven't replaced it yet. One issue I had was that the water at the bottom of the slide (the "pool" are) just got gross and there was no way to really clean it. Ick.

I saw the ToysRus circular yesterday where a few of them were on sale.
I couldn't believe how many different ones they had. They look like so much fun! Enjoy!!

I wish they had them 10 years ago for my kids.

:thumbsup2 This is our third year. We got the double slide racer one, because we have the kool-aid house and thought it would be better if 2 kids could go off at the same time. It is very heavy, we use a wagon to bring it out. I also agree with PP who mentioned the musty smell. We work like crazy to get all the water out, but it never seems to work. If anyone has a solution to this problem, I'd love to hear it.

The only other problem we had was that the hose part was stripped when we had a babysitter here one time. But I think that was operator error. :headache:

Great purchase IMO

We just got one from BJ's this year. It is a double slide one with a pool area (not deep enough to swim but I can stick my fat butt in it & cool off!).

So far my kids have used it a good handful of times, including this hot weekend we just had.

They love it. It cost around $500 (I forget the exact price).

The only down side is my kids have some 'rug' burns because I turn the water off when they aren't sliding & then they go & slide & I have to turn the water back on again-I also let the water heat up in the hose so they get a little warmth.

We, OK dh, folds it at night & puts it away if we aren't going to use it the next day or if rain is coming.

Maybe I 'm a lazy mom, but I rarely take ours out. You have to move it around a lot to avoid dead spots and muddy patches. Then, you have to make sure it is totally dry before putting it away or it will get moldy. It's also really heavy. The kids have a lot of fun on it though. Yep. I'm a total buzz kill!

LOL! That is why I am keeping my dh for now :rotfl2: He has the muscle to carry it & move it around the yard.

My 4 yo wanted me to take it out last week one day. Um..no I can't lift the thing. He kept begging too so I put the sprinkler up instead.
