What's Inferno worth? Well, I can fairly say that so far it appears to be worth more than all 120 items in my Offer:

There is an inherent value to Dancing Inferno that goes beyond it being a magic pin. It's a status symbol. It's Cool To Have.
This may be the most sought after item in VMK.
The Demand is high.
But the Supply is low.
As others before me have stated. Inferno, in actual quanity, isn't as "rare" as people think. There were hundreds if not thousands of them given out. And yet there are other things that exist in much fewer numbers (certain Beta, Tomorrowland 8/9, Mighty Eye, etc. - I'll call them UberRare), but do not have the same coolness factor, not the same innate WOW!ness that comes with Inferno, so there isn't the demand. Regardless, while there may be 1/3 of the VMK population with Inferno I think the majority of people who do have it simply
are not trading it at all.
Maybe it's because they only have one Inferno and want to maintain their Collection. Or even if they do have more that a single pin, maybe they were gifts and have sentimental value. Maybe they want to be Really Cool and Stand Out. Maybe they like have enough Infernos that they can trigger them consecutively and have a looping affect. Whatever the reason, I think that most people who actually do have Inferno aren't trading it at
any price!
So the effective availability is near zero (especailly compared to the near infinite demand).
Then you have to consider that the few people who are trading Inferno, understandably, want to up-trade. They want the UberRare. They want more than the great masses could ever hope to offer. VMK continues to re-release old stuff in large quanity, but hasn't released Inferno in the same way (and doesn't appear likely to do so). When the once Inferno-worthy Snowmen are re-released they won't garner the same Inferno attention they may have ever had. Same with the Halloween stuff and Pirate stuff. Only Mansion and Beta (so far) have been spared.
It's difficult just to get the right currency to buy the Inferno. Just because you've got a dump truck full of 10 million pennies doesn't mean you're going to be able to drive it to a dealership and buy that $100k Mercedes (No - they want them rolled-up first! haha). I mean most people are literally dealing with pocket change, with nickles and dimes. When the Sellers want
the Benjamins!
Add up the Effective Supply/Infinite Demand and you have a Hyper-Inflated Inferno caught in Trade Stagnation caused by VMK Currency Devaluation.
