My DD is 10 months old and buying shoes just seems so difficult to me. I know it would be easiest to just go get her feet measured, which I do need to do eventually. She's in a size 4 shoe now, but her feet are really wide. So, most of the cute sandles with straps along the toes don't work for her. Do infant shoes come in wide sizes? Where can I get some cute not-too-babyish shoes that are wider and will fit her? Over the summer it really didn't matter much, but for fall, she's definitely going to need shoes on. Anyone know?

Go to a place like Stride Rite and get her fitted for her first pair of "big girl" shoes. Once she starts walking, you'll want her wearing shoes that fit her right. :)

I agree. Stride Rite is probably your best option. My boys had "square" feet - as wide as they were long practically and I had to spend the extra money for the Stride Rites.

Thanks, I'll have to go do that. We went there at the beginning of the summer and got some sandles, which obviously don't fit anymore. She's already walking around too - mostly barefoot in the house or in her tennis shoes from the Gap, but they don't seem to have a lot of dressier shoes.

Another vote here! They are the only place that knew what they were doing when my DD was in her baby years.

We've found plenty of wide sizes at Payless for our 14month old son's cute, little chubby feet:)

I loved Stride Rite! I wore them when I was little, and DS wore them as long as he could. It was traumatic for me when we went in there one day and they informed me that he had outgrown their store. :( Now I take him to Payless. He's in a men's 8 wide in 4th grade.

Stride Rite is always a good choice for good children's shoes - especially if your child has wide or narrow feet. I would also try Nordstrom if you have one nearby - their children's shoe department is great and they have a LARGE selection of good brands (including Stride Rite) that come in many widths and styles. I really like Elefanten shoes - they are classic, well-made and come in great color and styles as well as wide widths.

My dd (28 months) has pretty small (she is just now wearing a 5) and narrow feet so we too have to shop around to find the right shoes for her. It would help if I didn't have such a shoe fetish but I just can't resist those cute little shoes :)
