Hi! My family and I are going to Disney World in December and we have a daughter that will be one when we go. I've never traveled with a baby and I didn't know if there were people out there that could help me out on planning this.
-Should we bring a stroller? or rent one?
-Should we bring diapers and all that with us? or take a cab off property when we get there to get that?

Im sure Ill think of more questions soon. I just wanted to get this out there and see what people think.

Thanks!!!

Well, welcome to the DIS boards!!!
I've never traveled with a kiddo younger than 3. But, I would definately bring a stroller. It makes it so much easier to get around. Also, are you getting your dd a seat on the plane or is she going to be a lap baby?? She will, obviously, need an approved car seat for the plane...most of the newer ones are airline approved.
What supplies you need to bring are up to you. I guess it all depends on how many diapers a day she uses. You can take a cab offsite to get what you need. Or, you can check out either of these sites....www.wegoshop.com or www.gardengrocer.com
I have used both and they are equally good. You can put in an order before you go, and they will deliver directly to your resort. Yes, there is a delivery charge and there can be a minimum order, but it sure is handy.
If you take a cab, be sure to get one with a car seat if the baby goes with you.

I've traveled with three of my kids when they were under 2 and it was a good experience. We always brought our own stroller. We would walk it right to the plane and leave it to be gate checked when boarding. The only time we couldn't use it was when it had to go under the scanners in security and my child would have to go through the metal detectors. Check your airline policy on gate checking strollers to make sure of size allowed and such.

As far as diapers and such, I've done one thing, but read another that sounded just as good. Some people do what the previous poster above says and has them delivered. Other's pack them in their luggage, and as you use the diapers you create room for souvenirs. We, the past two trips, have bought diapers here at home and packed a large box which we shipped via UPS to arrive shortly (a day or two before) we arrived. That way we didn't have to use valuable luggage space and we weren't worried about souvenirs because we weren't buying many.

Enjoy your trip, and planning the trip -- sometimes planning and thinking about all the fun we are going to have is almost as fun as the trip itself!!

For the actual travel time (airport, plane, etc.), take 2-3 times as many diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. as you think you will need for your daughter. If you don't have extras, there will be delays and you'll wish you had them. If you do take the extras, there will be no delays.
