Infant toddler beauty pageant questions

There is another tv show, it comes on Bravo sometimes, Showbiz Moms and Dads. That show makes me sick. :guilty:

Not all showbiz Mom & Dads are crazy. I haven't seen that show but I am sure if you had the same people; if not edited it wouldn't be as bad. But like I said I didn't see it.

I do know it was a topic of conversation on a few msg boards I have read and some parents of other kids trying to break into the business were upset that it didn't represent parents in general fairly.

As far as the website; wow thats crazy. I would never let my kid look like that ever. They look like little American Girl Dolls, lifesized!

But its not my place to judge any of them. I don't know the kids at all or their families. All I can say is it wouldn't fly in my house!

I think some women like to live vicariously through their daughters. There is no reason to put that much make-up on a 4-year old girl. They are already flawless little angels. I think pageants are a great way to teach girls self-confidence and how to have grace under pressure, but there is absolutely no reason for a little girl to be made up like that. I don't think I could ever do that to my little girl. She's beautiful, she doesn't need mascara and eyeliner to bring out her beauty.

Oh my!! I know that is how they are 'supposed' to look as I have watched that documentary (Living Dolls) as well. I have always wanted to know whatever happened to the girls featured. The one girl (Swan was her name-big surprise there) just seemed so sad. Her (teenaged) brother was going to jail or something and the mom was just like 'oh well, my 5 year old has a pageant'. This is too weird. Baby girls with fake teeth and hair and tons of makeup. Also, have you ever *really* looked at the mothers of these girls? They are...well, they are usually not 'made-up' women. They are usually quite the opposite.
Makes my skin crawl!
Swans Mom died of Cancer 2 years ago and now she is really messed up life. Yes those pictures are airbrushed and thats why the are that way and why most don't smile. They are instructed not to so its easier to touch up.My DD did the pageant scene and most people make judgement off of these shows that show the bad to make it look bad.My DD loved it and what child doesn't like to dress up & wear makeup.
Those outfits can go for a couple hundred and the dresses and sportswear a couple thousand. We bought consignment so it was cheaper.Pageants are fun andno differnet then cheer that wear tons of makeup and little clothes or stage productions, dances wear you wear tons of stage makeup.

.
Actuallly the bios say her mother died of a heart attack-"Robin Browne .... Herself (swan's mother)
Date of birth (location)
9 January 1958

Date of death (details)
17 February 2003
Cullowhee, North Carolina, USA. (heart attack)"

Not every child likes to dress up and wear makeup. I would have to hog tie mine to get her to want to look like one of those kids! I just don't see any reason to make a young child look like some sexy older person- I would not want anyone looking at my 5 year old saying she is sexy!
