Our grandson will be almost ten months old when we go to wdw. I am wondering if it is allowed for him to go onto the slower attractions like The Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Spaceship Earth, things like that? Obviously he would not pass a height chart so will we have to keep him off of these rides as well?

Yes! He will be allowed on any ride without a height requirement. My DSs had their first trips at ages 8 months & 15 months(not the same trip, LOL!) and they were able to experience quite a bit.

At 9 months my DD went on pooh ride, buzz, haunted mansion, IASW, dumbo, carousel, magic carpets, pirates, probably more I can't think off.

I would recommend the following for infants

MAGIC KINGDOM

coutry bear jamboree
carousel (with adult by side)
peter pan
magic carpets
Dumbo
It’s a small world
pooh
Tiki room
jungle cruise
Railroad
River boat

DISNEY STUDIOS

Playhouse disney
little mermaid

Check the rehab schedule for your visit. It's a small world and Dumbo will be closed during our January visit.

Anyone have any additions or suggestions for AK or EPCOT?

We are just back with our almost 6 month old and we took him on everything that didn't have a height requirement except for teacups in MK. He sat on my lap and the safety bar/buckle ift right over us both (and I am pooh-sized) You know what sort of things that will upset him, just stay clear of those and you'll have a great time. You'll be amazed at how much they take in. DS watched EVERYTHING! The only 2 things that upset DS were the gunshots on the Great Movie Ride (he got over it quickly) and when Donald kisses the electric eel in Philharmagic. You'll have a GREAT time!

For EPCOT: Journey Into Imagination, Spaceship Earth, Living with the Land
For AK: Kilimanjaro Safari, Festival of the Lion King (a lot going on--kept my DD's attention at 17 months!), ?train to Rafiki's Planet Watch/Conservation Station.

For the Magic Kingdom, I'd like to add the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (or the People Mover for those like me who refuse to acknowledge the new name lol). My daughter fell asleep on this on our last trip.

Both of my kids, as infants, were fine on Pirates and Haunted Mansion, also. In fact, my son was better when he was in infant than he was as a preschooler! :D

We have a 7 month old and are AP holders. We go somewhere at WDW about twice a month or more. DS has been going to Disney since he was 6 weeks old. We take him on everything that doesn't have a height requirement. He's done well on all the rides, he enjoys the lights and colors. Don't forget to use the baby care centers for diaper changes, feedings, etc. They are awesome!! The only attractions that I wouldn't recommend are the standing movie ones. Baby can get really heavy. Our ds has napped through American Adventure Movie, and France's movie, both have seating. We try to sit at an end in case we have to make a quick exit. Don't forget about the baby swap if there is something you want to ride that baby can't. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer!

i would also recommend bringing a sling or hip carrier for use while waiting in line.

Crazywig, great advice! At Future World in Epcot strollers are not permitted in most of the buildings. We use our bjorn all the time!

This thread reminds me of something that happened with my then 9 month old son in 1989. All the suggestions that have been posted seem fine to me but reading Spaceship Earth brought back memories. It was our first time on the ride and I was in the car in front of my husband and I was holding my son against my shoulder. Big mistake! I didn't know that the car tilted backwards as you go uphill and my son was really leaning over my shoulder far. I was afraid to manuever my hands to hold him differently for fear he would slide further back. I was pretty scared and I my husband kept yelling to me HOLD HIM! HOLD HIM!
We were at Epcot last month and while we were on that ride I again sat with my now 16 year old son while my DH and DD13 sat behind us. I could hear my DH yelling HOLD HIM! HOLD HIM! and we all had a good laugh as I held on to my "little baby". So on Spaceship Earth just make sure your little one is secured on your lap cuddled tightly in your arms as you go up and then again as your coming down backwards at the end.

My DS was 11 months when we went last May. He rode anything that did not have a height requirement as well. On the Kilimanjaro Safari and Pirates he feel asleep. He love Playhouse Disney. He road Haunted Mansion and Buss many times. He is fine in the dark. He loved looking at the different things. He really enjoyed the shows, but it did get hard holding him in the pre show rooms or lines. So if you have a carrier that DS or DD will fit in I would use it. He had a great time!

Thank you all so much for your terrific suggestions. We were a bit worried that the baby wouldn't be allowed to ride anything with us. We have been to wdw several times but this will be our first trip with an infant. We have alot to learn. My daughter did get a hip sling for children 15 to 35 lbs so I think it's going to prove very valuable. I have another question though, they have a large travel system stroller. Will they be allowed on the busses with this or will we have to use our own car?
