Hey folks,

Question is pretty obvious, searched around, spent way too much time reading crap from the mom's panel ... ugh.

How much (if anything) do they charge for an infant at Boma and Whispering ?

We have a 2.5 year old joining us on our upcoming trip, and honestly didn't even think about the cost for her at these places. I have seen pricing on the Disney restaurant websites, but they refer to children 3 - 9 for special pricing.

Maybe I just haven't searched enough, but I know people here will be able to give me a quick answer !

Thanks all.

She is free! She will be allowed to eat off of your plate for no charge. I believe you only have to pay for any drinks besides water.

awesome news !!! omg. that just relieved such a stress that I hadn't thought of and then got crushed with only NINE days before we leave !!! :)

Ok, secondary question, my friend is thinking about joining us for MVMCP ... does she need 1 ticket or 2 with her infant ?

No problem. Just remember kids under 3 only eat free at buffet and family style. At al a cart they ste allowed to eat off your plate but if you order more food for her they will charge.

Whispering Canyon isn't a buffet, is it? Maybe it depends on the meal? They do have an all-you-can-eat skillet at dinner. Infants can share from you're plate. So, they effectively eat free at buffets. But if you order them something off a menu, you'll pay for it.

This! In doing my research, a lot of places just say under 3 eat free, which is *so* misleading. It's arguably only true, as said, at buffet and family style (which is pretty much the same as "eating off your plate". I can only imagine how many times a waiter has had their ear chewed off by someone who thought they could order their child a meal at a regular TS or CS for free.

It would only be free at Whispering Canyon with the skillet. If you order something else off the menu, you would pay that price.

I have had CMs at regular menu locations (non-buffet) offer to bring my child a meal for free; or had them really encourage a meal for my almost-three and I wasn't sure whether it was paid or not until I saw that it wasn't on the bill. Sometimes we were charged for a child's drink but not a side item we ordered for the little one; sometimes vice-versa. Basically, *expect* to get free food for under-threes at a buffet or strictly sharing from your plate at a menu location, but you may be pleasantly surprised by kindnesses at other places too.

Just a note about Boma. Last trip, the waiter accidentally charged us for two kids buffets (kids were 2 and 4 months at the time.) I told him and he corrected it right away, but must make sure you look at the bill before you pay. That would have been an extra $30.

Thanks so much to everyone ! We don't have kiddies so I have never had to know this stuff, we are 8 days out and my friend (who is coming with us) asks "What should I budget for food" .... I was like ... OH CRAP ! :)

Also, it's pixie dust and you can't count on it but lots of people report not being charged for the little one's drink either.

Lol, I was pretty confused why you were calling your 2.5 yo an infant, but that explains it ;) You're a good friend for checking! Luckily most toddlers (except mine, apparently) eat like birds, so if your friend packs snacks, her child might just not need their own meal. Probably just sharing and maybe an extra side dish to round it out might work fine!

We ate at Boma last week and my 2.5 year old was free. He was free at all the buffet/AYCE places. The only place I was worried about was Akershus and had no issues ordering a separate meal for him and wasn't charged.

i still bring food for my kids despite always having 2 or 3 TS ADR's. Mine are almost 4 and almost 2. I would suggest a small soft cooler with the childs favorite portable snacks. we bring granola bars, applesauce squeezies, thermos funtainers with ice water (they do give out free cups of ice water but we start out with our own), and we also pack at least 1 sandwich for each child. pb&j holds up well as does (vegan!) bologna and cheese as long as you have ice packs to keep it cold. children are not always hungry when the grown ups are! a little bit of walking and all that disney excitement works up an appetite for my kids!

As for ADR meals, my daughter was 3.5 and my son 1.5 when we went in may. we paid for her and he was free. at akershus, for late lunch, our CM insisted we order our son his own kids meal and did not charge us. she reiterated that babies eat for free and wdw was a place for families, that if you are dining with your baby their food is included with your meal. of course i cannot guarantee that everyone will be this kind, but i hope so! we did mostly buffets and i would make a plate for my son to reduce trips back to the buffet and was assured that was fine. also, at CRT, he got his own meal. it was disgusting (the only vegetarian dish was just plain awful) but it was free! and for what it is worth, the desserts at CRT were delightful and we didn't care that the food was bad because we were paying for the whole experience of dining in the castle. we were glad we had the back up, sure thing food!

I don't know your ADR schedule, but if you can work in a character meal (Tusker House is one of our absolute favorites!) the child will be over the moon. :)

KIDS UNDER-3 EAT FREE "411":
1) TECHNICALLY, there is such thing as a "kids-under-3-eat-free" policy.
. . . no where in ANY Disney brochure is this mentioned
. . . there is no such policy
2) But, when done per policy, they eat almost free.
3) And, based upon CM discretion, they can eat free.
4) The official rules:
. . . kids under three can eat off the adult's plate
. . . if they order anything, even milk, they are supposed to pay for it
. . . if they order any food, they are supposed to pay for it
. . . this is anywhere, including buffets
5) What really happens:
. . at buffets & AYCTE kids actually "eat buffet food free"
. . . . . . adults could get the food, instead and give it to the kid
. . . . . . the adult could claim it is their plate kid eats from
. . . . . . they might as well have a drink, for same reason
. . . . . . it's tough to determine it was theirs or their parents
. . . . . . thus, kids can have their own plate and beverage without charge
. . at non-buffet, servers can determine if they ordered food
. . . . . . it is easy to tell if they got a drink
. . . . . . the server usually charges for food ordered for the kid
. . . . . . the server usually let's the drink go, but not food
. . . . . . the server, at their own discretion, can charge for beverage
6) So, to wrap-up, in practical terms
. . . at non-buffets, kids under-3 eat without charge ONLY from parent's plate
. . . at buffets & AYCTE, they can actually take food from the buffet table or separate plate
. . . at all meals, items are ordered for the child "might" be charged for them
7) Please remember to add your child to the table count.
. . . if there are four adults and a child, that needs an ADR for five people
. . . this is regardless whether the child is lap, stroller, highchair, or regular chair
. . . also, if the baby makes six people, the AUTOMATIC 18% GRATUITY is in effect
. . . no automatic gratuity at CRT-HDDR-LUAU-BBQ, as tips are already included in the meal price
