We're taking our kids 6mo and four year old for the first time in two weeks. I wondered if our infant carrier, the kind that latches into a base in the car, will meet size requirements for carry-on.

Thanks

If you are not using it on the plane (no seat available for the baby), you can gate check it.

If you've purchased a seat for the baby, you'll be allowed to bring it on the plane. If you're intending on holding the baby in your lap, you'll have to either check it with your luggage, or gate check it.

We are going to Disney in about a week with our 6month old. We have the basic Graco car seat and base and are not getting him a seat on the plane so we'll be checking it. I found a great car seat (and Base) cover/protector made by Eddie Bauer at Babies R Us for only $19.99. It looks like it'll be really helpful.:sunny: ::MickeyMo

You still may be able to take it on and put your baby in it if there's an extra seat on the plane. Let them know when you check in that you have a lap infant, and they'll try to put an empty seat near you if they have it. Even if you're planning on holding the baby the whole time, it's nice to have options.

I would check it at the gate if the baby won't have a seat. When my gradfather passed away in July 2002, my cousin, my 6 m.o. , and I flew stand-by to the funeral. Because we were stand-by, we were searched at every plane change between OKC and Seattle. At one of our screenings, they asked me if I wanted to check the car seat. I said 'yes' and they promptly lost it. It was eventually recovered at our final destination, but the thought of using one of their "loaner" carseats wasn't that appealing to me since they were for older kids. So, I hung onto it for dear life on the trip home and only surrendered it to flight attendants who always knew where it was once the plane landed.

Thanks for the additional info, we'll definitley bring it to the gate and try and get a spare seat.
