Infant born in Mexico weighs over 13 pounds

Yup.. he's a keeper! None of my kids got even close to wearing any of the newborn clothes given as gifts...all of mine were close to 12 pounds.... they also had big appetites!

Our friend held the local hospital record for largest birth for several years. (and she's not Mexican  ) Her son was one or two ounces shy of 13 1/2 pounds. He wasn't a C-section! :earseek: Mom is a diabetic who takes insulin and refuses to eat appropriately for a diabetic.

My mom gave birth to six kids. The smallest of her babies was 9 and a half pounds, the largest of the babies was 13 and a half pounds. I weighed 12 and a half pounds. And she gave birth to all of us naturally.

One of my wifes cousins had 3 kids the lightest one was over 10 pounds the last one was just over 12 pounds.

My nephew was 13 lbs at birth also. His older brother was only 4 pounds at birth. Their nicknames are BOOM BOOM and PeeWee!

Both are over 30 now, PeeWee is now 6ft 5" tall and BOOM is 6ft 4" tall and over 300 pounds!

My sister had some MAJOR stitches after that birth. She was "split from bow to stern", HER words! :earseek:

On the other hand, my doctor told me my son was AT LEAST at 10 pounder up till I was in labor. He was born only 6 pounds 11 oz!

WOW!!!! :earseek:

My son was "only" 10 lbs 2 oz at birth. Sounds small compared to a 13 pounder!!!!

owie owie owie!!

well....at least he'll sleep throught eh night real soon ;) :teeth:

A very good friend from work welcomed his new son into the world three weeks ago and the baby weighed 11 pounds. When my wife had our twin DD's, they were nearly 14 pounds, (6lb:7oz and 7lb:3oz).

The night my daughter was born, there was a young black teenager having her child, too. It was also 13 lbs! They put mine in the neonatal ICU because she had health problems, and she looked so much bigger than the other's since they were preemies. (mine was 6lbs, 13oz). Well when they put the other girl's baby in, mine looked like the preemie. That poor little kid literally filled up one of those clear basinet things they put them in. Side to side, top to bottom. I still wonder how that small girl had such a BIG baby!:)

I'm glad Miss Maddy wasn't 13 pounds when she was born!

I think I might have the record here.....

My grandfather (who was born in Sicily in around 1908, so no C-section, no epidural, NOTHING but sturdy Itailan birthing hips) weighed 15.5 pounds. No joke!!!! that's as much as 2 of mine put together! :faint:

Funny thing but as a grown man he wasn't all that large. He was only around 5'11" tall.

My nephew was born in a border town and was 24" long a birth. My brother got a kick out of saying his son was 2' tall already. They had him in one of those incubators for a while and he was all scrunched up in there!

well, that's one reason I never buy small clothes for a baby shower/presents....I never buy anything smaller than 12 -18 months because you never know how big the baby will be!!! Besides a lot of people buy small clothing, I figure this way, they have something to grow into.... Now that 13 lb=er, hope his parents have some big clothes for him NOW.
;)

My second one was 11# 2.5 ounces! Vag delivery! Eek!

But he was so nice and sturdy! The nursery had to call pediatrics cause there were no size 1 diapers on hand. Hee-hee. He wore newborn clothes for oh, a month or so...mostly cause he went down to 10 and a 1/2 pounds shortly after birth and stayed there for 2 weeks and then slowly got bigger. Now he is a pretty normal almost 3 year old- 36" and 32 pounds. Still has a very large head though! I was not diabetic and I gained just under 25 pounds.

I had all small babies, but 2 were born at the same time!
My oldest was only 6'10 but he felt like more when I was pushing him out!!! My twins were 4'6 and 4'14. I had an ultrasound 2 days before I had them and they guessed their weights at 4 1/2, and 5 pds. They got it pretty close!

All right you meanies! LOLOL! I was 14 pounds, some odd ounces when I was born. I'm wondering if this mom was diabetic. My poor mom was such a petite thing. Can't imagine her carrying around a "baby" like me. ;) The doctor told her that she did NOT have an infant. LOL! Do not treat her like an infant. Ha!
