Infant born in Mexico weighs over 13 pounds

OUCH!!!!!!!!!!! :faint: :faint: :faint:

C-section or not I can't imagine carrying around that much baby!

Hmmmm, first the UFO sighting now this!!! Anyone else think there could be a correlation?????

I had an 11 pounder and I know from previous threads that some on the dis have delivered larger ones than that. I loved having a big baby once he was out of me...he was so strong and was such a good eater that he never nursed more frequently than every 4 hours!

:faint: I just had an ultrasound and my baby is 7lbs. 14oz's 3 days from term... I am in alot of pain I can't imagine having a baby in there twice that size!!

omg - just heard this on the radio as I was pulling into the garage.

some guy called in and said he weight FOURTEEN POUNDS when he was born back in 1965!!

he was born about 80 miles from where this baby was born...WHAT IS IN THE WATER DOWN THERE?!?!?!

was the baby named Watermelon? heheh

My aunt weighed 12 pounds when she was born, and it wasn't by C-section!

When I had my DD, there was another baby in the nursery that was 12lbs. And the mother was a small Mexican woman. So maybe there is something in the water in Mexico! It's a good thing I didn't drink any when I went there for my honeymoon!

My DD weighed 10lbs. 2 1/2oz. and DS weighed 10.4. I had DD completly natural b/c she came only 27 minutes after we got to the hospital and if not for her sholder displasia (sp?), it would have probably been sooner than that. I was only in labor for 3 1/2 hrs. DS also had sholder displasia, but we knew to watch for it. I was in labor for 6 hours w/ him and had an epidural--Thank Goodness!!!

I loved having large babies also. I didn't feel like they were so fragile. However w/ both of mine they wanted to eat 24-7!
 I started them on cereal very early. W/ DD, it was the only way I got any rest at all. I had been going on infrequent 20 minute naps for 2 weeks and I coudn't take it anymore.

DD is still very tall for her age, but she isn't heavy like she was as a toddler, she is expected to be close to 6 foot tall. DS is also tall for his age, but he's a skinny kid.

They are both wonderful sweet kids!!:sunny:

 That's not a baby!! It's a toddler!!!

Keep in mind that they are not exact. My DD's sono said 7 lbs.. and she was born a few days later at 8lbs 6 oz. Of course this was 9 years ago, they may have fine tuned them since then. Either way.. best of luck, Preshi!

Yes, Preshi -

U/S weight estimates can be off by as much as a pound either way.

Holy smokes 13 lbs is a BIG baby.

DD#1 was only 4 lb. 12 oz and delivery was painful. DD#2 was 8 lb. 2 oz and looked full grown to me.

Denae

That's funny, mickeyboat, because DS was 11 lbs and DD1 was 10 pounds, so when DD2 was only 8 lb 9 1/2 oz, she looked absolutely tiny to us!

They're gonna have to skip breast feeding and go directly to McDonalds drive thru

I had a sonogram at 34 weeks which estimated my ds to be 8 lbs 11 oz or so... I yelled, "But I'm not due for 6 more weeks!!!". They laughed (very fun nurses). So, sure enough, ds was born 1 week EARLY at 10 lbs 13 oz. C section. :p He did end up in NICU due to low glucose and oxygen problems but was out in 36 hours.

Now, I hold babies in the nursery at a local hospital that are 6 pounds and they are so TINY!!!

DD2 was 7 lbs 14 oz at 3 weeks early, so she would have been another biggie had she gone full term. She wanted out at 27 weeks but we wouldn't let her so I was on medicine for the rest of the pregnancy. They finally took her at 37 weeks exactly since I was having strong contractions every 3 minutes for 3 days. She wanted out, I guess. ;)

Yeah, we had to return all the cute 0-3 month clothes I got at my shower for ds... he fit right into 3-6 months and was in 12-18 months at 6 months old! He is 8 now and 54 inches tall and skinny as a rail, lol.

Oh, btw, my dh is 6'6" and I am 5'4". Who do you think he took after? :p
