Inexpensive Teacher Gifts??

Well, my kids each hand sewed a small felt animal for their teachers. They are 7 and 8, so I think sewing is a nice hobby a lot of kids their age probably don't do yet. They also wrote nice notes, as did I, and we included a $10 Target gift card for each. We also gave personalized bookplates and thank you notes to one teacher because she was just that awesome.

Kinda hurts to think they might throw out the little hand sewed items... My son said his teacher was so touched she kissed him on the head. Love her!

Even if I throw someone's cookies away, I keep their notes :) I love looking back at notes students have written me when I see them graduate years later, or when I'm having a bad teaching day, etc. I also really like it when it's clear that the kids have written the notes, and clearly aren't just dictating what their parents tell them to write. I'd rather have less formal notes that come from the heart.

My son's thank you note this year read "Thank you! I worked really hard this year!" I hope she knew what he meant... or at least what I think he meant. I left it as is because it was from his little first grade heart. And it came with a small gas gift card.

Thank you to all the teachers who responded here!
