inexpensive sulfate-free shampoos?

I've been reading about sulfate-free shampoos and how they don't dry your hair like the other shampoos. However, most are $16-25 per bottle. Anyone found a better deal?

I use this shampoo that is sulfate and paraben free (and made with 70% organic ingredients). Right now it's $9.79 and buy one get one 50% off. I have used many other shampoo's from this website and have liked pretty much all of them (and some you can find around $7-8, just check the ingredients first to make sure it's sulfate free). Loreal I think has a line of sulfate free shampoo/conditioners, but I try to find shampoo/conditioners made with more natural ingredients and no-parabens (no animal testing is a plus too).

Check out Trader Joe's House Brand, I think it is like $4. I used to buy it all the time, but Trader Joe's is a bit out of the way for me.

Currently I am using some Burt's Bees I got on a crazy deal, think $5 for Shampoo & Conditioner. I have also used a cheaper brand from Whole Foods, I think it was their house brand, that worked out just fine for me.

I found the Kenra I was paying big bucks at my salon for at TJ Maxx for $6 per bottle. I get it there now or at Ulta when they are havnig a buy two get two.

Last time I checked (and it was a few years ago) none of the shampoos at the Trader Joe's near me were truly sulfate free. They still had sulfate, just not the typical one you find in most shapoos (very frustrating for me).

I have a sulfate allergy. The cheapest sulfate free shampoo I found was Paves No Sulfates Allowed shampoo at Wlamart. It runs about $5-$6 a bottle.

Sulfate free shampoo is hard to use for many people. It does not lather, its very thick, and very sticky. In fact, no sulfate free shampoo will really lather because it is the SLS that causes the lather.

I didn't like the sulfate free shampoo. I much preferred to use my regular sulfate shampoo, but less of it and to add in baking soda and just live with the outbreak of hives when I am not careful enough. But, since I haven't been careful lately and I am out of shampoo, probably going to pick this up again until I clear up.

L'Oreal EverPure is sulfate free. There are $2 coupons in the RedPlum inserts. EverPure is on sale at CVS this week for $5.99 for 8.5 oz.

So, you could give it a try for $4 .

Whole Foods' house brand is really good. It has no parabens or sulfates (I checked the label and it appears no sulfates of any kind). It's around $8.99 for the big bottle here.

I bought some of the Organix brand conditioner you listed the other day at Meijer. It was $6.99. I haven't tried it yet though. I also saw that Avalon brand and another one I can't remember now. Not sure if they are totally sulfate free though.

I actually make my own all natural soaps and sell it at craft shows and things...a shampoo bar is very similiar but has a different blend of oils. Search "make your own soap" online and you will find tons if info. If you don't feel comfortable working with lye, you can order soap base on Ebay and then "rebatch" it and add your own scents and things! Just don't order melt and pour base as it is loaded with chemicals!

I just bought the Organix from Walgreens tonight. It is coconut and smells divine. Can't wait to use it tomorrow.

i had been using Deva No-Poo (which is pretty expensive), but just tried Trader Joe's tea tree shampoo (which i agree might not be 100% sulfate free) because it was only $5. I also recommend "shampooing" your hair with conditioner only...you have to scrub your scalp pretty well, and the dirt and oils attach themselves to the conditioner and wash out when you rinse the conditioner. Some people have really good results with this method, some people can't stand it, but it takes a while for your hair and scalp to adjust.

I also picked up some some Chemistry shampoo, which is sulfate free, on a clearance sale at the drug store, but I haven't tried it yet.
