inexpensive princess dress?

My dd loves cinderella. We want to make ADR's for the palace. I want to get her a dress, but will it be uncomfortable for her to wear all day in the park, and is there anywhere I can find one that's not so expensive? Any thoughts?

My 4 year old wore her Giselle dress to the PPP and was fine all night (4:30-midnight) and then wore it to our 8:10 seating at the castle a few days later and I had to about pry it off her when it threatened to rain that afternoon. The kids seem to love to wear them and cast members make a big deal over it so I'd just pack a set of clothes in your backpack in case she wants to change. We got really lucky and found the dress on clearance at our Disney Store after it was returned by whoever purchased it in the parks. I generally do not see them "cheap" unless they are secondhand which has been fine with my daughter too. Good luck

I agree w/ wearing it over clothes when she wants and would suggest checking disneyshopping .com and see if they have any dresses still on clearance in their costume shop...or lilian vernon sells mock disney princess dress up clothes you might consider, not full out, but could work.

I just bought a pattern tonight so that my Mom can make my daughter (3) a Cinderella dress out of cotton. I just can't imagine her wearing one of the polyester dresses in the August heat in Florida.

I'm plannning to have my girls wear one to our Cinderella dinner at 1900 park fare.

Then we'll either get a locker at the MK, toss the dresses (they're not new and probably won't fit for much longer) or stop back at the Poly to bring them back to the rooms.

It will be August and hot, but they can wear the dresses over their shorts for as long as they want.

I agree with http://www.disneyshopping.com - you can also search the web for coupon codes to get more $ off.
The only other way that I have gotten them really cheap is right
after Halloween at the Disney Store.

I love the dresses on mydressuptrunk.com. They're made out of silk so not uncomfortable and pack really easily. My daughter hates "itchy" so they're great in that way too. The only drawback is they're not as fancy unless you buy the deluxe version.

We bought our dd's Cinderella at Walmart for $15. She wore it all morning then we returned to the resort for a break and got her changed.

On our trip to DL our dd's wore princess "normal" clothing...it was a Cinderalla short set and a Bell short set...they still wore their crowns Everyone stopped to tell them how beautiful they looked. They felt extra special.

My DD wore her dresses pretty much every day of our trip a few weeks ago, and she did the same last year. She just put it on over her clothes. You will see the majority of the little girls doing this. We always buy a dress there, but they do cost $70. There are dresses at Target for less than $20.

She will love all of the attention she will get in her princess dress!

My niece has her dresses bought from mydressuptrunk. The fabric is great, they look nice, and are much more comfortable than the disney store versions. Prices vary, but I think $25 - $35.

Thanks for the tips everyone! I went to the different stores' websites and found the dress I wanted at the disney outlet. I can't wait to surprise her with it when we get there!

I am thrilled you were able to find a dress for your DD. Our last trip my DH bought our DD one of the deluxe dresses from DTD and it drove my daughter crazy!! it itched like crazy. It was very pretty on the hanger but not so great to wear we found out. DD is wanting to go to BBB to be done up and we will ONLY get another dress there if it's not as scratchy as the last one.

I got my nieces Snow White and Cinderella dresses at Sams Club just before Christmas. I've seen them at both Sam's and CostCo.

My neice picked out a beautiful fancy "real" dress at Goodwill. (probably a flower girl dress or communion dress) It was about $5.00 and she looks like a fairy princess in it. Now, she will not look like Ariel or Snow White, but for that price we figure she could buy some accessories at the BBB and still make out ahead. She loves the dress and won't see anyone with the same dress. I thought this is a great idea for a little girl who isn't set on a specific character.

My sister bought a great Cinderella Dress for me neice at a local consignment shop. She got to know some of the workers and they kept an eye out for a Princess dress. When one came in, my neice had the prettiest dress for the best price!

What about boy costumes? Where can you get them at WDW?? My son will either want to dress up as Buzz or Woody at some time during our trip. I would rather buy it there than bring it with me.....
