Any thoughts on inexpensive glasses? My 19 year old need new ones and I'm trying get to not spend a fortune. She generally wears contacts. So this would be a backup pair. Hence, not wanting to spend a fortune on it. I know about the Sears kids eye deal but she is 19. So that's out.

You might ask locally. I have no first hand experience with Costco but I have heard people with very good, and very bad Costco experiences with glasses, just depending on which Costco.
My personal experience has been you get what you pay for. I have never had much luck with inexpensive prescription glasses.

I have also heard of eyebuydirect.com. I'm in your boat too. Making an eye appointment today and need cheap glasses :) It's not the frames that kill me, its the lenses!!!

We had a good experience buying from Warby Parker for our teen daughter.

My son has used Warby Parker a couple of times and loves them. He likes that you pick out some frames you like and they send them to you to try out. I'm planning to give them a try the next time I need glasses. For those with Amex cards, there have been a couple of times in the past year or so when Amex has offered a $20 statement credit with a Warby Parker purchase of $95 or more. The last offer expired in early July so it might be awhile until they do it again.

Look on ebay for a frame that you like or if you have a frame in mind look for it on there. Then take the frame to lens crafters and have them make lenses for it. I have done that a few times. Costco is always a good option since they carry decent designer frames at a great price and the lens prices are very reasonable.

I have a pair of glasses and rx sunglasses from Zenni. Under $30 shipped for both pairs and I'm very happy with them. I'm actually considering ordering another pair of glasses with the same style frame I chose for my sunglasses because I like the frames so much.

I've posted this before about eye glasses, but I don't understand how you can buy eye glasses online. They need to measure where your eye hits the lens, they need to get the right width of frame, and length of the arms, and of course adjust those arms so your glasses don't fall off, or give you sore spots on your ears.

Walmart. My DS got a vision test, new contacts, and the glasses were incredibly cheap. I liked our old eye Dr., but we don't have eye insurance, and I couldn't justify the hundreds of dollars of savings just to keep visiting him.

Does she (or any female in your family) have an older pair of glasses that is no longer being used? Have her eye doctor send the frame out to have her new Rx put in. The lenses should not be too expensive, assuming that she wears a single-vision lens with no correction for astigmatism. As long as she is not getting any upgrades like transition lenses or an AR coating, the cost will be minimal.

Also, check your health insurance for any vision discounts that they may offer. Even if you don't carry a vision plan, there might be a discount for using a participating provider to make the spectacles for her.

THIS. ^^^

Recently, Walmart was running a deal for $35 for a pair of glasses. But, even their regular pricing is cheaper than anywhere else but online. Since I have issues that make it difficult to find a pair that fits well, I wouldn't ever order online, so I've been using Walmart for my last several pairs.

Also, they have a policy that they'll change your frames for free within 60 days for any reason - even if it's that your prescription changed.

Another vote for Zenni. I now buy pairs just for fashion's sake. You can download a photo of yourself and virtually "try on" glasses. It helps if you know what looks good on your face. I know keyhole lenses and wayfarer-like shapes look good on me, so that's what I virtually "try on." The lenses are always exact to my script and I can pick the thickness and all other options.

I get a lot of mine at Walmart but did find that they are cheaper most of the time at Warby Parker and my DS26 loves them. That seems to be in at college.

I've gotten awesome deals from BJ's Optical and you don't even have to be a member! Check their website for the latest specials.
